870/1470 Now Running the True Oldies Channel

870 WLVP and 1470 WLAM seem to have dropped their in house "oldies channel" programming and is now running Citadel's True Oldies Channel. These days TOC pretty much runs mostly the same music as WYNZ.

870 in Portland now True Oldies

Of the Scott Shannon variety. Was locally originated when they flipped last year. When did this change? What's the point?

ZZZZZZ

OldPort Wino

Yes, seems like Shannon. The switch must have been in the last 30 days or so. Prior, it was apparently in-house produced by Nassau. 870 (Portland) did not show up in the ratings but 1470(Lewiston) did. Now, with Scott Shannon format, there seems to be a lot less music.

That one and sister station WLAM-1470 in Lewiston. But the number 6 is wrong... more like 18 months. They give each format a decent chance.

870 worked best when they were doing air america, i think they had a 2 - 3 share for a couple of books. I know thats not around, but some of the left of center shows may be a good fit, something to balance WGAN, WZAN, and WLOB. The true oldies thing, is a hard sell, especially with 100.9 on one side of the oldies / classic hits world and JTO on other with it's very good portland signal. the barber shop i go to used to play the bay, now its JTO everytime i'm in.
