88.1 fm is getting a bit crowded

from Fybush...
RI Public radio was granted a CP for 88.1 in Narragansett adding a third frequency to thier cluster 1290 WRNI,102.3 W--- and now 88.1.

WELH in Providence and WKIV(k-love) in Westerly now occupy the frequency already in RI.

It's 88.1 in Newport. And WRNI is 1290 AM and 102.7 FM. And it's WRNI-FM that's in Narragansett.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when/if WELH goes to 4kW.

The WRNI 88.1 in Newport is very directional and will basically cover Newport proper. While there will be quite a bit of overlap to 102.7,
it will definately help with building penetration and multipath in the tightly packed streets of Newport.

With all that said, WELH, WFHL and WKIV in their current incarnation are all low powered FM stations and don't really conflict with each other.
