While sitting in the car in Lakewood yesterday I scanned 88.1 and heard RD. I put on 1560AM from NYC and found that it matched perfectly. Is WYGG playing RD now or was it some pirate???

It was most likely a modulator for XM. The operate on 88.1 /88.7

Both XM and Sirius receivers have built in FM modulators which can braodcast about 500 feet or more. I know for a fact that Sirius broadcasts Radio Disney and I'm pretty sure XM does also. Some of these have only a few frequencies to choose from, while others give you the pick of the FM dial to find a relatively clear frequency

Probably someone near where your car was parked was listening to that channel.

Happens to me all the time in Trenton--I hear short blasts of various kinds of music while listening to WNJT in the car.

I pulled in to a parking spot near a senior citizens home in a
town I will leave unmentioned. I was listening to XM with the
modulator set to 88.1 MHz. I experienced interference. I turned
the XM receiver off. I then hear a comedy bit filled with the
most foul of obscenities. One of the old folks must have been
having a jolly time. :)

Not all of 'em.

I have an XM SkyBox and an XM built-in car receiver. No FM modulators at all.

I also must say that the sound quality on the SkyBox and built-in car receiver are FAR superior to the sound on the MyFi/SkyFi.

Did you see a car parked nearby with kids in it? If so, then its probably a satellite radio.
______________

He did say it "matched up perfectly"

So, if it was a true, real-time match...Id be willing to bet it wasnt Satellite.

The sat signal is 20 seconds behind the terrestrial counterparts due to uplink.

You could be right, there are a lot of X factors that the original poster didn't make mention of. Put a gun to my head, and I'd agree here. But, just trying to keep it real.
______________
