88.1 WELH please broadcast in stereo!

I have tried calling them several times to make this suggestion but they don't answer the phone, it just rings on and on. ??? It would be great to hear the oldies and soul in stereo, and also nice if they could get rid of that Spanish music up until 1pm during the week, to give more time to the oldies and soul format. I don't understand why there is Spanish music on WELH, when we have three local Spanish music stations, one FM on 100.3 and two AM, 990 and 1110.

Get rid of the spanish music which probably makes a bit of money in the way of leased time?

And with the lower power theyre at right now, mono helps them a ltitle better.. not exactly with the range, but some radios have trouble with a weaker signal that's stereo.

WELH has a construction permit to increase power when WLNE Ch. 6 turns off their analog signal. I would bet a move to stereo will be in the cards as well. I'm pretty sure WELH does have a stereo transmitter, but they choose to broadcast in mono to increase their signal range.

I wouldn't be surprised either if they go stereo once they increase their power.

Ask and you shall receive. Was driving on 495 last evening (10-28-10) near the 95 Interchange in Foxboro and lo-and-behold, it was WELH broadcasting their oldies format in Stereo. It sounded nicely processed and had some nice image liners between the tunes. They even had a top-of-the-hour news summary as well. It would be nice if this were a 24/7 all-oldies station. It would fill the void since B101 dumped the format. I'll betcha they would easily be able to get enough local underwriting to cover for an all day oldies/all night oldies format.
