88.3 FM Johnstown CP

Called the director of the pending new station. Mrs. BAIHUA ZHOU told me they have "NO Schedule for the station".

She thought I was from the FCC because her phone number and email address are posted on her FCC application.
Had to be very infatic that I wasn't from the FCC.
She apparently didn't know that their FCC application is in line and is public record.
I told her I'm a radio buff and aficionado when she asked me why I was so curious about the new station. Radio buff and radio aficionado aren't
in ever ones vocabulary, apparently.

She said she will get back with me after she talks to others involved in the station.

Still, doubt this station will see the light of day. ;)

It looks like this CP will not be built. They have yet to even apply for call letters for this station
and the CP expires in the next 110 days or so.

they would not apply for call letters, until after the station is built....

they can still build something, assuming there is a transmitter site that they can use to put it on the air...somebody could make them an offer for it, bu this may well be another group of single minded individuals who follow their own minds, without much understanding of what it takes to get the job done...the interesting thing is if this application/cp goes away, what doe this do the the 88.3 that is lock down here in Columbus...is there already a side deal made, since it is odd that they is no apparent interest in building out a cp in this market

88.3 in Columbus (The former CDR Translator that is now EMF's running Air1) has a CP to move to 90.1.. so if 88.3 Johnstown is built it wont cause them to much issue.

I am kinda surprised no one has went after it -- however we all know last minute deals can happen.. Sure the signal covers mostly rural area but still it's a signal.

So (OHIO EAST-WEST CULTURAL BRIDGE) CP expires in about two months.. Any word on build out? Looks like this one will fade away.

I heard someone had a minor interest in this. Maybe it's cheaper to let it die on the vine than to buy it from the current CP holder

It's an interesting ploy, but one that usually doesn't work. I have to say, usually, since the media bureau has been known to go on tangents occasionally. The FCC has a strong policy of letting CP's die...

What will most likely happen, is that the CP, if un-built, will go away...the person/group that currently has it will lose any claims, monies, rights, etc that the holder currently has, and the normal process is for everybody to start over, so even if they sold it for 500, they get something. If I recall, there were others who applied, one being the network neighborhood, that now has WCRS, half time.

If someone bought the CP, they would most likely have to get something on the air, but there is something to be said if the commission would transfer the permit, and allow them time to build...however unlikely that, that might happen. One could argue that if a transfer was allowed, etc, that would take it past the expiration date, so a new one, although shorter, could be set?

of course, that assumes that no one else argues/applies for the frequency, as if the cp is killed, but the allocation is not dropped, the process starts again.

How can they possible go on the air without assigned call letters? This is a dead CP, at least in it's present state.
Like I said fourteen months ago, I doubt this station will ever be built. Now, it won't be built by
the present CP owner. Maybe the recession caught up with them years ago and they didn't have the money to build the station right now.

then they should have disposed of it long ago
