88.9 WMWX 3 months in

Been listening to the signal and listening to the stream and the station keeps getting better. Its a nice change of pace this time of year without all the political ads durring their breaks.
Anyone else been listening?

I've been listening via the stream since I first read about it here... If I lived in Cincy--it would be "saving grace" for my FM radio. Maybe some WGRR (until I tired of the commercial overload)... Mama Jazz on 88.5 gets a preset, but ClassX gets very serious TSL from me... AHHHHH... A "classic" station that can dig up more that 200 tunes 8)

Up in Indiana (north of Brookville), their signal weakens--but don't they null towards the northwest? Otherwise--they're doing a fine job!

Over on AM, my fingers remain crossed for the fortunes of WDJO. They're a bit old for me at times, but their stream sounds very good... And so does their station in general. 'Hope they "make it" too!

I'm getting nothing but a stereo carrier on 88.9 and the Internet feed is streaming but no audio. Its been silent since around 8pm. I hope its nothing to serious.

As of 11:25pm Eastern the stream is a no go in Dover, NH and Middlesboro, KY....

It's like the stream is there, but the audio ain't..??

This just in.
The stream is down.
And in other news.
We have no lives. ;)

Though originally impressed with the station I find myself listening less often. The music has become a little hard for my tastes. There are still some fine tunes to be heard and the concept definitely fills a niche, but sustained listening grates on my ears after a while. At times it has the feel of an 80s hair band station. And some of the alternative stuff is a little too edgy for me. I would like to hear more acoustic alternative stuff mixed in. Overall I think the station needs a more musically balanced sound.

Keys, you & I must be listening at different times. I never hear 80's rock on 88.9 anymore. Mostly just old 60's & early 70's stuff, and occasionally some obscure newer tunes. Just since you've posted this, they've played:

Now Playing: Clapton, Eric - The Core (1977, UN) (Slowhand)~6.22
05:17:52 PM - cw-mccall-convoy
05:09:47 PM - Dire Straits - Money For Nothing (1985, 1, 22) (Brothers In Arms)~13.95
05:06:47 PM - McCartney, Paul - I've Had Enough (1978, 25, 11) (London Town)~1.63
04:56:37 PM - Deep Purple - Call Of The Wild (1987, 14, 10) (The House Of Blue Light)~20.39
04:52:01 PM - Mike + The Mechanics - Another Cup Of Coffee (1996, UN) (Beggar On A Beach Of Gold) [2] [ANYTIME]~7.80
04:47:38 PM - Pickett, Bobby - The Monster Mash~11.58
04:45:06 PM - Beatles - Yellow Submarine (1966, 2, 9) (Yellow Submarine)~6.39
04:41:00 PM - Cream - Sunshine Of Your Love (1968, 5, 26) (Disraeli Gears)~8.67
04:36:41 PM - Misfits - Halloween~3.64
04:33:48 PM - Donovan - Riki Tiki Tavi (1970, 55, 8) (Open Road)~2.13
04:27:58 PM - Miller, Steve Band - Space Intro-Fly Like An Eagle (1976, 2, 20) (Fly Like An Eagle)~7.83

I often listen around midnight on my drive home from work. It's almost all 60's.

Much like Free Radio 105.5, I liked it in the beginning. I didn't care for it later. I miss the 80's rock! A lot of the stuff I was hearing hadn't been on the radio since 96 Rock or WCLU.

If you really want a softer approach to AAA, get an HD radio. The Summit (92.5 HD-2) is very good. The JVC KD-HDR1 HD car tuner is on Ebay for about $160 delivered.

We have added a bunch of 80's recently. Keep in mind, we didn't have our 20,000 song library ready when we signed on and we still don't. We keep adding each week as time allows. We are up to 5,000. When we are finished you will hear an amazing difference. We plan on tons of 80's & 90's. Hang tight. We are working on it daily.

What you are describing is nothing like what I hear when I tune in, which is usually during the day at work via my computer.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already have satellite radio....both XM and Sirius. XM Cafe is a great AAA channel. XM Fine Tuning is an absolutely fantastic channel.....a very eclectic mix of quality music. XM has lots of great music channels and they go very deep. Sirius' music channels don't do as much for me. Their overall approach is a little too FMish, imho.

I have little use for local FM radio anymore. It is so bad and so sterile it's a wonder anybody listens at all. But hey, now we have an exciting new FM talk station coming with nationally syndicated shows. That will really liven up the ol' FM dial.
