89.3 FM

I'm surprised there are several 89.3 FM stations in the bay area. I counted at least 5. Where I live in, KARC and KOHL are hammering each other.

KPFB 89.3 Berkeley
KOHL 89.3 Fremont
KMTG 89.3 San Jose
KARC 89.3 Moss Beach
KPDO 89.3 Pescadero

Driving around SF a few weeks ago, at least 2 of those were interfering with KPOO at 89.5.

I'm pretty sure the Pescadero one is off the air. Not that it matters much.

Dave B.

KPDO Pescadero has just filed for an extended off-air permission while they try to find a new transmitter site.

Their slogan is "KPOO: it's the s--t!" (actually, their specialty soul music shows are pretty great)

Wrongo. The callsign KPOO stands for Poor People's Radio, the owner. There is a prominent sign in the control room telling people to spell it out as K-P-O-O. The founders also started KBOO, KRAB, KDNA, KBDI (beady eye, a TV station), KCHU, and others.

Yes, David we know that. I don't mean to be the hundredth person to accuse you of being humorless, but it *was* a joke. ::)
