89.7 The River

I'm listening to airchecks of Free Beer and Hot Wings on 89.7 The River. Back in 1998, they had an awesome eclectic AAA format. I liked the mix of the music with the personality, and the music they played is no longer availible on Omaha radio. Does anyone have airchecks of the River from before they went to harder-edged modern rock, and does anyone think with the City gone, KIWR might want to take another look at AAA?

It's hard to tell anymore. KIWR would certainly be the most likely station to try something like this.
It's too bad they got a new GM at Waitt after they launced They City. Their 'two years' hands off policy lasted about 2 seconds.

Last time I listened, the River was out of control--in terms of violating FCC underwriting & promotion rules. When Journal or Waitt or CC gets pissed off enough, Iowa Western Community College is gonna find themselves without a 100-kw FM, and with a first-class scandal/embarrassment on their hands. They must figure that the thousand miles between DC & Council Bluffs means nobody will ever catch 'em. "Free Beer & Hot Wings"... uh, yeah. Obviously, no one who has a clue at IWCC is paying attention (more likely, nobody at IWCC has a clue)!
