9/14/20??

What is going to happen on Fox 26 this September? I keep seeing a add with a freeway sign with the date of Sep 14th.

Maybe they will rename My 20 Vision to Fox 26+ like the other duopolies out of standardization's sake? One reason that was pointed out previously about not adopting the standardized Fox Plus branding is that KTXH's channel number is lower than KRIV, creating an oxymoron of a lower channel number being higher.

Another reason about adapting the 20/20 Vision branding is that since OTA use in Houston was (and still is for the large markets) high, going retro would evoke memories about the pre/early-Fox "little 3" independent stations (contrasting with the Big 3 and PBS on the VHF channels).

Fox 26 News at 6 will start in Houston.

Fox-owned KRIV Houston (DMA 8) will debut The NewsEdge Early Edition at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14. The half-hour, weekday newscast will follow The Fox 26 News at 5 p.m. and precede TMZ. With this addition, KRIV will produce 10 hours of live, local news each weekday and 60 hours of local news per week, more than any other local television station in the market.

Station VP-News Director Susan Schiller said: “Following the success of the 10 p.m. edition of NewsEdge, we recognized there was a desire for this kind of hyper-local, interactive newscast and wanted to expand the franchise into the earlier hours, where it may resonate with more of our viewers.”
