9 hour and 15 minute shift!

God bless the current jock on WGPA (Saturday afternoon). pickle is on filling in for ned richards and then apparently going to stay for his normal saturday evening shift meaning pickle on air from noon to 9:15 p.m. i think hats off are due to this extraordinary effort. who works 9 hour shifts in radio these days? and what an amazing mix of music! michael martin murphy "wildfire" playing right now. i am in tears of joy.

Believe me it was! I had the radio blasting all through the house. He got a little risque at the end playing some 80's, 90's, and current music. The new REM song and the Replacements tune was slightly over the edge for WGPA. It was pretty funny actually. The old ladies must have been confused.

i heard that too. but it was seamless the way he did it. started with oldies. morphed into the 70s and 80s. then did some classic country. then did some more 70s and 80s, then into the more progressive stuff to wrap up the night. i did hear a cool song by jimmy sommers called "If I knew." he said it was a request for frank in hellertown. i guess the people in hellertown have better taste than I thought. i love that song.

Wow, Pickle must have made a good $20 for that 9 hour shift.

well, with minimum wage at about 7 dollars, pickle made about 63 dollars before tax, and about 50 dollars after tax. not bad. i mean look at it this way, if you've got a saturday afternoon to kill and need a couple extra bucks, why not have fun spinning some of your favorite tunes. at least at WGPA you have the freedom to play what you want. so why make sarcastic comments. sometimes i think the people that say these things are jealous that you can actually have fun at WGPA while still doing a good job and providing a product people like while all the rest of you guys are sitting behind a prophet screen at clear channel.

Well Said, I-78. **** clear channel. look at the disasters known as y-102 and ZZO. the only thing cc has that doesnt suck is WRFF in philly. 93.5 is better than some of the other crapola in the valley, B104 and LEV and even BEB (philly), not that i have anything against these stations, its just not my kind of music. o find myself listening to 93.5 in the Triangle Tech parking lot during lunch. that and The Bone and WYSP.

thanks, eyg. although your nassau stations that you love aren't a whole lot better. ::) just teasing. they're better than clear channel's. but i'd rather stay away from ANY form of corporate radio and support the mom and pops, the NPR's, or the colleges like WGPA, WDIY, WMUH, WLVR, WXLV, WEEU, and Kutztown University Radio.

What we're "jealous" of is that anybody can get hired at GPA as long as they want to work for minimum wage, put up with bad equipment, sell their own spots and laugh at Timmer's inane jokes. Believe me, having worked both with and for Timmer, I am not jealous of anybody who works there.

He tops my list of the three worst people I ever worked with in broadcasting:
1. Timmer
2. Kathy Craine
3. Ms. B (aka Leigh Moylan)
4. Mary Beth Chadwick Weinstein
5. Dave Fox
