There's been some stuttering as of late about this long-time pirate. Sometimes identifies as "Radio Ringo," plays 50s - 70s corn-pone pop and country oldies with an occasional episode of Chickenman thrown in. Used to simulcast on 1700-1710AM until WRKL signed on to the extended band up in Rockland County NY a few years back. From driving the route in the past, the signal reliably covers from Ballenger Creek to the Potomac River in southern Frederick County and appears to be emanating from downtown Buckeystown, probably about 10 watts from a rooftop or second floor.
The FCC seems to be concentrating on keeping the commercial band clean so that every available translator frequency can be scooped up, or at least argued over by MX-ers and full-power incumbents. I guess WCSP or WCRH would have to complain for The Commission to get excited about the noncomm band in southern Frederick.
