90.5 in the Lockport/Niagra region

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone in the Lockport/Niagra Falls area could check something out. Lockport Community Television holds a CP for WLNF, licensed to Rapids, at 90.5 MHz with 250 watts. I did some investigating, and saw that they recently applied for a license to cover for the station. I assume that means they are on the air. Not being from the area, I have no way to determine that for myself. So, if anyone could confirm that this station is indeed on the air, I would appreciate it. Personally, I wish LCTV success in their efforts to bring community radio to the Niagra region. Although, I know this signal will be very restricted due to the co-channel CBC Radio 1 relay right across the border.

Can't hear it in Rochester...the LCTV website says it's "coming soon", but that means nothing because a lot of station websites don't get updated promptly. It has a facebook page, and it shows up in the FCC database as a licensed station. So if it's not on the air with a regular schedule it has to at least have done proof-of-performance testing and submitted it to the FCC, and gotten its license to cover the CP. It'll be interesting to see what they do with it...

In the WLNF license application, it appears that the station's first directional antenna (made by the Italian firm RVR) may have had some problems after it was installed in September 2011. My guess is that the FCC wouldn't accept the pattern measurements.

According to the attachments to this application, a Shively 6810 was installed in January, a new antenna proof was submitted, and the station license was granted on February 9.

I finally remembered to give a listen to 90.5 this afternoon as I was driving back from Buffalo. At the truck stop by the Pembroke exit, 90.5 was listenable (though not especially strong) with automated light AC music. From the promos they were running, it sounds like they do some simulcasts of Lockport Community TV public-affairs shows.

surprised the fcc allowed a station at 90.5 in the lockport area...seeing as longtime indie rock station WBER operates on that frequency in penfield...(roughly 65 miles away)
