90.7/92.7 The Goldmine (Phoenix metro)

I've been listening more to this station recently because it seems like everytime I turn it on, it sounds more and more dance-leaning. Perry, what is the music schedule for this station? I know you mentioned before that at least 50 percent of the music played on the station is dance-leaning. I have to admit that I was an Energy listener so it's nice to hear so much dance music on that same frequency now (92.7).

Yes we have thrown out most of the Urban. I was asked to add many token Dance tracks a few months back so you will hear them rotating with the obvious Pop hits in the playlist as well. As far as a schedule, you can catch my Drive at 5 mix every M-F (only 20 min so don't be late!) and Friday nights 9-Mid PST. Saturday night afterhours is my favorite time as I do my House Connection 1-3am PST. They have other mixshows on Saturday nights 8-midnight which is Dance leaning Pop. For the Dubstep folks, there is a show late night Fridays too (Mid-2am) done by various DJs

They also play a full set of drum & bass and house in the FNFS from 12-2am late night Fridays.

These days I've been getting home on Fridays just in time for the late night mixes and normally listen to radio mostly on Saturday nights. While I'm out during the week I'm pretty much glued to the playlists in my iPhone. I guess I've also been listening to KUPD and KWSS quite a bit since this girl I hang out with often loves rock and rock influenced music.

But whenever I do have the radio on during the week, mostly Goldmine it is.

Gotta admit, I wasn't happy with the songs in the GoldMine's countdown. I tried to suggest it sounding like Powers back in 96 (but modernized), but they went with cheese like Will Smith and Cha Cha slide :-X :-X :-X

Haha...I only caught a few minutes of it here and there yesterday. Power's was a great countdown back in '96. Of course I loved that station at the time...one of my favorites. Such a shame it isn't around anymore on 92.3. I understand that throughout Power's history, hip-hop also played a significant role and perhaps it satisfies that nitch now in the Phoenix market, but I always wished it had gone back to its dance roots and dug into that history. I guess history isn't really that important anymore on the radio dial.

Perhaps you can influence Goldmine for a Labor Day countdown that does exactly what you were suggesting. I am just happy that they are playing so much dance music everyday.

I thought I was the only one. Eminem is good, but I don't want to hear him on a top 100 dance tracks of all time countdown. I also dislike when Spice Girls plays in regular rotation. I seem to catch it a lot.

I agree Perry,,, But I know your doing what you can to make it sound a bit better.. At least they have good mixes
