After years of waiting for the FCC, as well as the usual delays, KPFK is now on the air at 93.7 from Woodson Mountain. Just ten watts, but it appears to cover fairly well.
It won't cure the noise coming from Mexico on 90.7 for most listeners, but it works pretty well on 93.7. I can confirm that nulling out the 90.7 transmitter south of the border was not that difficult, and they seem to be located east of Mt San Antonio, and not at the old XHLNC location. If they are running at the power granted by the SCT, I can imagine they might be frustrated by the lousy coverage they have in the greater San Diego County area, due to incoming interference from KPFK.
But maybe they don't care. Being where they are, they can always just turn it up. "Variable Metric Watts" indeed...
