outlet has been mixing with ,or recently been the dominant signal rebroadcast from 90.7 It needs to be fixed,

Yeah, it would've been reported sooner, but KPFK'S Mt. Woodson area listener was out of town, visiting his brother in Vermont, so no one noticed the problem until he got home.

It actually will not cost very much, except in time and hassle factor. Either the inversions are causing some changes to the KPFK receive signal, or the boys south of the border are having fun with the power output control of the transmitter. Either way, adding a second phase cancelling antenna or adjusting the existing interference suppressor will probably take care of it.
And the guy who was out of town in Vermont was not the one who reported the problem, so he does not count.

And as of this afternoon, KPFK has turned off the translator, pending a couple of changes to the receive antenna configuration at Woodson. It will be back soon.

It would great if we could simply call up the folks at El Major and figure out of they have more power, or moved to Mt San Antonio, or something. For now, it will remain a guessing game, and an few more sessions of creative engineering.

The only people likely to be able to answer technical questions of that nature would be the corporate engineering staff of MVS in Mexico City; La Mejor is one of their franchise brands, and they own about 15 La Mejor's in major markets as well as about 50 Exa's in Mexico and Latin America. As is common with government and business in Latin America, most management functions are centralized and that goes for engineering and coordination with the regulatory agencies.

If someone is serious about obtaining information, they should speak Spanish and contact MVS's central office. The Commercial Attaché of the US Embassy in Mexico might be able to find names and phone numbers. While there is a fine line between information seeking and doing international negotiations which must be done via State, there is no harm in trying to get clarification of status.

David, I have been down that road before, and it is not productive. Nobody is interested in sharing truthful information. We will simply figure out how to get around them, as we did before.
