90s euro vs disco:

Ok, was *every song* a disco remake ?
On xM (which i am very happy with : )
played "LAST NIGHT A DJ saved my life"
on the chrome/84 xM channel..

I first heard this song as a 90s hit..and,
then discovered the disco/original hit. This was
true with aLOT of artists/songs...crazy.

No,, Not every 90s euro hit wasnt a disco remake. Their have actually been so many remakes of this Particular song, its not even funny any more. The most recent version I heard, was actually a House Version,, Its a few yrs old now, and used to be played on www.groovedallas.com .. By the way,, Welcome to the world of XM-Dance....

Song came out in 84 by Indeep, post Disco, Funk, Breakdancing. That phase was actually the Euro/Import explosion period.

Don't recall the 90's remake. Who was it?<P ID="signature">______________

There was a remake of the song done around 1991 or so by a group called Club Idol - it was actually the b-side to a single they had out on Cutting Records called "Bus Stop". That's the only 90's era cover of that song that I can think of offhand.

Indeep did the original version that was actually a TOP 15 pop smash in the U.K. early on in 1983. Coldjam put out a version of it in 1990. Sylk 130 had a 1998 version of it.

I (Groove Dallas) play the original version by Indeep, and the latest remake that I know of by MC Mario (Canuck) which came out in 2005.

I think there was another... I want to say it was something like Sylk or Silk, or Silk 130... I have the vinyl in a crate somewhere. Would have been released in early to mid 90's. Ring a bell for anyone else?

You are correct! Sylk 130. It was released by Sony. I played it for a couple of weeks at a Chicago station almost a decade ago. I think I still have the CD single somewhere around here... LOL
