90's Music in Houston

Why is it I have to go to IHeart to find a good radio station that plays the good music of the 90's. Their are GREAT stations in Huntsville, AL, Baton Rouge, LA and even Oklahoma City for Pet's sake but a major market such as Houston cannot have anything but C&W, 60's/70's Oldies, Hispanic and (C)Rap?!

Perhaps the OP is looking for something like the "90's and more" stunt that was on KROI for two weeks in 2004 after Radio One purchased the station.

I don't know what kind of Kool Aid you be drinking but Houston doesn't have a 60's/70's Oldies station, and hasn't since at least 2002.

Sacramento used to have a 90s station KBZC. It was the first one but it lasted two years.

I am in agreement with the OP here. What makes the 80's so special that a station was dedicated to the format for over 10 years, but 90's music acts such as Adam Ant, Robyn, Roxette, and others haven't seen the light of day on the Houston airwaves SINCE the 90's. It's been 14 years since the 90's ended. "The Point" began in 2000, only 11 years after the end of the 80's decade.

The Baton Rouge station cited by the OP, WRQQ, was flipped to Classic Hits last week. The Gen-X station in Tulsa has been gone for at least a year (OKC never had one). That leaves you with Huntsville and Louisville basically doing what the Point was doing at the end.

With alternative holding tightly onto its gold titles and AC hanging on to the rest of the titles that haven't already been burned to a crisp by Hot/Modern AC, the chances of a 90's format catching on are slim.

I do kind of dig KOLA in Riverside doing classic hits heavy on 80s/90's titles. It may be the only station in the country playing Sublime and the Steve Miller Band without apology.

94.5, 96.5, 99.1 play 90's music. Name some artists and titles of 90's music that you are looking for?

If the threadstarter is interested in R&B as well, Majic 102 recently added more 90s R&B and new jack swing titles earlier this year. It's sister station in Philadelphia, WRNB (now "Old School 100.3") played only R&B from the 1990s into today a couple years back.

KHMX was doing something last night where they were playing all '90s music, with '90s news clips during the commercial breaks. I'm not really sure what that was all about, but it was nice to listen to while I was driving.
