90's Rythmic and R&B

I'd have to say that his is one of the gaps in radio right now. I do not know if there is a demand for it, but if someone were to program it I would listen. Thoughts, opinions?

This is why I had hopes for the Movin' format when I first heard about it, but it never really took off. There are some good songs in that decade. I guess the question is how to package it?

Either as Rhythmic AC, part of Jammin Oldies 2.0, or the "Gen X" format that seems to be popping up here and there. 90's rhythmic & R&B titles would be great for any of those formats.

Hell, I play Next "Too Close" & Naughty By Nature "O.P.P" on my Jammin Oldies hobby station, next to the disco and Motown. I think it fits in nicely with the 60's/70's/80's titles that get played next to it...

I might be splitting hairs, but didn't "New Jack" emerge in the early 90's? That "New Jack City" flick was only released in 1991.

Nah it started around the mid 80's with producers Like Jimmy Jam&Terry lewis, Babyface and especially Teddy Riley spearheading it. I'm all for a rhythmic ac done right. Not that Star 937 garbage. Playing the rhythmics I grew up listening to on the old WILD and WZOU just before it turned into Jamn.

I know that I said this on another thread, but this format or something like it would be perfect on WTKK 96.9. Are the WBOT call letters still available?

You are right about the "Star 93.7", now "Funkytown". I put it on the other day on 93.7 HD2 and they played Brittiney Spears (gag), I, needless to say, turned it off.
