91.5 Laconia?

Northeast Radio Watch:

*We have call letters for a new construction permit in Laconia, NEW HAMPSHIRE: the 91.5 signal there will be WANH.

owned by the same people as WVNH, according to their website 91.5 will simulcast 91.1 and they'll shut off the 104.3 translator in Concord

The 104.3 translator in Concord isn't being "shut off," it's being sold to WKXL. I imagine they'll probably shut off the 96.1 translator in Laconia because of this, or maybe that one will be sold too.

If Nassau had any sense (and that's debatable) they'd buy the 96.1 translator for their talker WEMJ. 1490 has to be one of the most crowded graveyard channels and their night signal is so bad it barely covers the COL.
There's also Gary Hammond's 1350 WEZS and Northeast's 1240 WFTN in Franklin.
FTN and EMJ carry the Sox and the FM would make that sound pretty good.
I wonder what that translator will sell for. As slimy as he is, maybe Brian Dodge was ahead of his time. :D

well there goes some of the white mountain coverage from WWLR (not much tho)...
would that explain the lack of phone calls Ive been getting from Nh from places like woodsvile, Havervill and franconia notch area on Tuesday ???

I'm not down in central NH but I doubt the 91.5 is even on the air yet (their website says a 2009 target airdate), and with the mountains and terrain, i doubt you're going to see any overlap with the 2 stations.

Maybe people just weren't listening (or calling)

I am sure it will do some damage

your probably right on that... satellite radio, the death of "GOOD" TOS, only getting 2 hours a week of radio and now 93.7WOTX i feel so lonely here in the NEK when I am on the radio :'(

It won't do much damage, if any at all.

The required seperation between Class A Facilities (6KW/328 ft max) is 62 miles. Keep in mind, neither WANH or WWLR is anywhere near a Full Class A Facility.

WANH is 1700 Watts at 56 Feet and 2750 Watts at -74 feet.

Add to that, the distance from the WWLR Lyndonville Antenna to WANH Laconia Antenna is almost exactly 67.85 miles. There's plenty of room.

Also, to have gotten a Construction Permit, WANH had to show it wouldn't interfere with anything else. The 60 dbu(local like signals) of same channel stations can't cross, and I think 54 dbu signals (semi local) can cross.. but I doubt they do even in this case!
