91.5 Olympia (Delphi)

Still broadcasting a dead carrier after a month or 2. The FCC is aware and has visited the area and made a note of the signal. The guy I talked to out of the local field office is actually a nice guy, he just has to know you first after the initial phone call which didn't go off so well. I hope the LP goes bye bye as I'd like to hear OPB once again in my car.

I know there's going to be some last minute ass covering by it's operators with some cockamamie excuse like "We didn't know" (Were they even LISTENING?)

After blasting at a FAR HIGHER power than allowed. Then this, enough's enough. If they're not ready to get serious about their license and everything that comes with it. Then turn it OFF.

Good on you Blatherwatch for reducing the air pollution out there.

K218CU should be operating at 3 watts...

They weren't for a while until somebody snitched them out. On another post up here, they mentioned it was powerful enough to give KGHI problems in the Eastern end of their signal. Now they've been running dead air for months.

I hope the 10 watt CP goes nowhere..

I hope for something better.

You see, Washington State legalized pot. And pot is considered a sacrament in the Rastafarian religion. So let's make it a DIFFERENT religious station! Why not? Rasta is even recognized in the military.......

WHY NOT?

Jah Love to you all....

The new CP for 91.5 at Capitol Peak is actually a help for KGHI and adjacent channel NCE stations north of Oly.

The antenna they have specified has a fish-shaped pattern. It puts a deep null toward co-channel KGHI and should eliminate the ongoing interference to them. The opposite null is vaguely toward the new KXOT site.

In their filing, they note that they are making the application because of complaints by KGHI. As far as I know, it's actually KGHI listeners and not KGHI itself who contacted the FCC about the mess. But it's apparent that the FCC told them to get legal or get lost.

The upshot is less a little interference to KVTI and mostly KXOT listeners in Oly from the 91.5 translator. And a BIG help to KGHI listeners anywhere west of Capitol Peak and as far west as Montesano and Central Park.

The full 10 Watts is directed south easterly. So the only place the K218CU translator is going to be stronger is Rochester, Grand Mound and Centralia. But at least they get to keep it if the FCC approves it.

I didn't go over the application in great detail, but it looks grantable on first pass.

Still on with dead air as of this morning (3/11/13). Seems to be very strong- I'm guessing that they are still running more than 3 watts, but that's just a guess. Radio-locator thinks they are off the air but they are definitely still on.

They seemed to have pulled the plug on it, KOPB is back at least to the south and west of Tumwater Hill and other environs.
