Think they will do a countdown up to midnight on May 20th?

Nope.

Though, I think it will be funny if that's when Camping kicks the bucket.

Should that happen, at least Dr. Harold Camping will have correctly predicted the end of the world for himself.

That's my thought.

...and you wonder why the internet loses credibility.?

Nevertheless, there will probably be some earthquake or natural occurance that is blamed on whatever date is set.

Why???

Because it is the nature of the planet to change.

We are building sand castles at low tide.

Get over it and move on.

My mistake. Sorry. Maybe they could stunt with Prince from 6PM Friday.

If Camping kicks it at 6pm, they just may do that on 94.7 in the New York market.

As of yesterday, they were running PSA's on raising well-behaved children. If their listeners get beamed up, won't they all just be well-behaved by definition?

No ! It's 6 pm on May 21st.....get it right..........lol

As I read, it's 6PM pacific Time -- 9PM here. Never mind that it's already May 22 throughout most of the world, including Australia, where it's advertised to happen on 5/21, just like all the rest.

Then again, I also read that it begins at 12 Midnight in Jerusalem, which is 4PM here today (5/20). And as I write this, nothing happened.

I read that they are not creating new programming. Presuming this event doesn't happen and Camping splits with his billions, will these stations licenses revert to the FCC?

According to articles, it's 6PM local time, meaning that the "global earthquake" will not be simultaneous, but will roll from time zone to time zone.

6PM already came and went in Tokyo, Guam, New Zealand, Australia and India -- and nothing happened.

Probably not. The licenses won't matter tomorrow...

Seriously, though, Family Radio controls the licenses.

If something happens to Camping - healthwise or financial - as a result of the (non)issue, those licenses are worth millions!

It would be curious to see how "Life after Dr. Camping" is set up, since he is 89.

As the Rapture never happened (especially as 6PM came and went in Hawaii several minutes ago), looks like we may have to wait a little longer.

Dr. Camping sold all three of his California commercial licenses several years ago, replacing them with AM signals. The last station sold was KEAR-FM 106.9 San Francisco sold to CBS for $95 million plus KFRC-AM 610 which became the new KEAR(AM). KEBR 100.5 Sacramento and KECR 93.3 El Cajon / San Diego were sold off several years before selling KEAR. Family Radio has three remaining very valuable commercial FM signals which are WFME 94.7 Newark, New Jersey; WFSI 107.9 Annapolis / Baltimore / Washington, D. C.; and WKDN 106.9 Camden, New Jersey / Philadephia, Pennsylvania. The remaining radio properties owned by Family Radio are small to medium size market NCE-FMs and low stick valued regional AM signals with the exception of KEAR-AM 610 San Francisco.

I'm sure if Family Radio does hold a fire sale of its radio stations, USF would snatch up WFTI, as a means to give WSMR better coverage in Tampa Bay.

I'd bet when it does happen, they will fetch enough to be some of the most expensive non-comms, ever.

There is no doubt that some NCE-FMs are quite valuable. Same as with commercial FM stick value, NCE-FM stick FMV is determined by location and total population count within the primary service contour. Considering all of Family Radio's stations are listener supported, stick value is the only acceptable method in determining FMV as there is technically no positive cash flow.

However, as stated in my previous post, the absolute MOST valuable Family Radio properties are WFME-FM Newark, New Jersey / New York City, New York; WKDN-FM Camden, New Jersey / Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and, WFSI-FM Annapolis - Baltimore, Maryland / Washington, D. C. WFTI Tampa Bay has tremendous stick FMV; However, I seriously doubt WFTI will garner anywhere near the $45 million + stick FMV that WFME has.

hmmm, let's see a short spaced "A" 3kw non-comm in St. Petersburg compared to a class "B" 37kw at 94.7 in New York? I can't argue that.
