910 AM / 105.7 FM

Our new FM translator @ 105.7fm for 910 AM will be relocated and the signal maximized for Spartanburg very soon.
Wofford athletics will continue. But a new station will be born. www.woli-am.com

YAHOO!

Sure sounds like a preset in my pickup just opened up. But by the amount if local ads I heard, I might have been the only one listening!

Craig, I'm sure you don't want to tip your hat on the new format, but is there a date for it? Personally, I won't miss sports talk (overkill anyway if the 950/1330 rumors are true). Moving the translator to the 910 tower will help a lot. At my house, the translator and 105.7 Augusta fight it out.

For better or worse, the AM dial is becoming almost irrelevant. In the are we have translators or simulcasts for 660, 910, 950, 1070, 1330, 1400, 1460, 1500, and 1510. 1530 is about the only non-religious AM station that isn't on FM.

Yes, there will be several sports options and, while I think YAHOO! Sports Radio delivered an excellent product, the market will be well served with CBS Sports, ESPN and Fox Sports.
Our target date is 1/7/13. Not guaranteed as it's all contingent on the translator move going flawless. 105.7 is still going to be victim to CC's Augusta outlet during temperature inversions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropospheric_propagation) and such. However, it's new placement closer to the population of Spartanburg should keep a decent signal throughout the city. As AM goes, 9-10 is one of the better, and better sounding, signals in the area and has a significant upstate daytime signal.

Format and name to be announced. Bill Love and Howard Hudson were on The Beach Bob Oldies show the other day delivering the news
that it will be anchored by a newly reunited Love and Hudson morning show featuring K.C. Carson and Lee Alexander will host mid-days.

The station will continue to be the Flagship for Wofford Athletics and Spartanburg High School Football.

This sounds like it'll be an interesting station, Craig. I'm glad Lee Alexander won't be off the air for long.

Guess I'll have to try it out online...WEKL/105.7 definitely has the edge here (your translator is not even a threat to it) and 910 is somewhat iffy but decent in the car. I'm guessing the upgraded 105.7 won't have much of a signal in Greenville County.

Y!SR (and Fox Sports Radio) is really being given a run for its money with CBS Sports coming on the scene.
