910 KNEW AM in SF drops Savage

Michael Savage is out, John and Ken are in... Will he find another home in the bay area?

(Announced at 9:10 AM local time during the Armstrong & Getty Show)

How come so quick. You would think they would do it at the start of the week or month. Not the middle. Anyways will be interesting to see where he lands in San Fransicko as he puts it.

He's a great ratings getter if you're willing to put up with the protests, I remember back when I lived there he was on KSFO so they might take him back now. Wouldn't say his stay there was "quick" I'm certain it was at least 2 years.

KSTE is licensed to Rancho Cordova/Sacramento and the signal barely penetrates SF and certainly not at night.

Strange that he's on there now since its CC owned also.

He use to claim to be #1 in the Bay Area during drive time...it seems that this is no longer the case if the station was so quick to get rid of him. I read on the SF boards he's gone from top five to being just outside the top twenty.

Savage is not on KSTE just "now". He's been on there for years. KSTE is not a replacement Bay Area affiliate for him...it's his long-time Sacramento market affiliate.

Now, the 650 daytime signal is quite listenable in much of the Bay Area. But it's not intended to be a SF market station. It is listed on Savage's site solely to give listeners an alternative to not hearing the show at all.

OK fine, that's not what I meant by "now", I am also aware he's been on there since about 2003 when I started listening. The point was that he obviously didn't piss off CC that much since they didn't drop him altogether in that area.

I don't think it's even a matter of him "pissing off" CC. It would appear to be a matter of his rather large local-only contract with CC SF/KNEW being a major albatross compared to his declining ratings on 910.

CC Sacramento does not (as far as I've ever heard) pay him separately to run on KSTE... as far as I know, they're just a regular TRN affiliate of the show. Thus, CC Sac/KSTE isn't losing a truckload of money keeping him on, no matter what his popularity is there.

I noticed that KSTE has been home to Savage for 8 years while KNEW had him for 6 years.
