91X names new morning show

Mat Diablo and Mahoney hit the 91X Morning show starting Monday.

San Diego alternative rocker 91X kicks off the show Monday from 5:30 a.m. until 10.

Two more non-locals that will have to be told how to pronounce La Jolla and El Cajon.... isn't Steve West the only local (I know he's British, but I say local cuz he has lived in San Diego for over 25 years...hasn't he?), left on that station? Can''t they find anyone local? Maybe it's cuz the PD isn't local?

two ll's is pronounced like a y. j is pronounced like an h.

and my last spanish class was 8 years ago.

i say as long as both of them have eaten at el pollo loco once in their life, they won't have a problem pronouncing cities.

be glad that its a LOCAL ROCK MORNING SHOW. thats been going the way of syndication (e.g. opie and anthony, adam corolla, howard stern) for ages.

As someone stated 91x could have gone the way of syndication so the suits should be commended for taking the road less traveled ;D

I briefly worked with Diablo a few years back in Reno... smart, funny dude... should do well in mornings. And hats off to the hiring of a live local morning show, even if they're not natives.

Matt Diablo is a real radio guy he does it because he loves it, and he is committed. He is a good dude I think he is going to do great on 91X. He is the breath of fresh air that station needs.

If he is a real radio guy, why did he sign with a sinking ship ??? ??? ???

He didn't, he signed with 91X. I don't see your point, sir?

Jeff and Jer were not a local duo when they were hired to Y-95. Look at them now...

I don't see your point, sir?

Garrett , here’s the point – Mr. or Ms. WoohDog is injecting a touch of sarcasm by asking who would want to join a sinking ship, implying that 91X might not exactly be an ideal place to cast one’s professional fate…

Garrett – you’re welcome…

he is confused because his map shows Lubbock in San Diego county!! Well, that's par, and to paraphrase him "six make a dozen!!"

The new 91x Morning Show is looking for a producer. So if that is your thing, get in touch with them!

Unless you just want to sit around on radio-boards all day. ;)

Sure... $8/hour for 4 hours a day. That'll pay the bills in Market 17...

Wow -- that's a little harsh...I'm guessing $25k - $45K...

If that's what their paying, then they'll want somebody whose been doing this a while. I haven't produced a talk show since 2001, and not in a major market.
So $8 an hour is what I'd get paid, that is, if they hired me at all, which I can predict, they probably wouldn't.

At $45k, I'd take that right now.

Four hours a day would just be the time spent making phone calls. A good morning show producer is looking at 10-12 hours, if not more, a day. The pay could be decent, if you're young, healthy, self secure, and willing to age rapidly.
