92.1 in Concord, NH...Let's play!

I know this would never happen, but let's play and fantasize about it. If Clear Channel bought 92.1 WPHX Sanford, ME and 92.1 WFEX Peterborough, NH from the Boston Phoenix. Then shut down 92.3 WGXL in Hanover, NH would the FCC allow a new allocation on 92.1 in Concord, NH? If so, how much power could they legally broadcast with? 50kw, 25kw? Please put all "local service" rules to the side....Could this station effectively reach Concord, Manchester and Nashua and be a player against WOKQ, WGIR and WZID?

WXRV 92.5 in Haverhill might have something to say about it.
They would be too short spaced at just about all power levels.

92.5 has asked to move to Andover, about 10 miles further south. That might open up enough space to have something at Concord. But the question is: what market would you want a channel like that? Concord is ARB rank #175. The WXRV move could allow the Sanford ME 92.1 to slide down toward Portsmouth enough to put a city grade signal there. That's market #117. And you wouldn't have to blow up WGXL to do it.

What is the mileage difference between Sanford & Haverhill & Concord & Haverhill?
> How would the quality of the signal be with a simulcast where the two signals met?Let's just for example say the two 92.1's of 'FNX were close enough so their secondary coverage area met or overlapped a little, you would be able to pick up both stations. How would that sound over the air?

I respectively disagree. Unless I am misunderstanding the rules, the spacing rules for second adjacencies require 69km for Class A to Class B. WXRV's transmitter is rougly 65km or 66km from Concord, NH. If WXRV moves to Andover, the 69km spacing will certainly be acheived. There may be enough room for a C3 or B1 station too if WXRV migrates south. I do have a question about the WXRV move though, why would WPRO even consider allowing WXRV to budge south, talk about short spacing! I heard that the former owners of both these station agreed to be shortspaced to one another, does anyone know the history of these two stations?

arn't there any open frequency's anywhare near concord anymore? secondly would the 92.1 nearby the college I attend (also as a radio dj) in lyndonville vt from newport vt bring in any inference to any of these proposed plans? or is it far enough away? I just wish 92.1 in newport could get a realy on 92.1 down hear near st johnsbury and get rid of the 99.3 relay in st jay and allow 99 rock to come in up near st jay because there is absulutly no rock that comes in, in some places of the northeast kindom (except when our college station has rock shows) any Ideas on this one? (thank god I got a carver tx-11 tuner so I can atleast get wtos stationary and lazer 99.9 if I am very lucky.)

Apparently literacy is not a requirement to get into college these days.

Neither is mental stability. This guy is obcessed with rock music. He's always saying something about WCCC on the Connecticut board. And he's usually belly-aching that a religious translator in New Haven on 107.1 prevents him form hear WCCC 106.9 when he's in New Haven.

I like rap/hip-hop/r&b, but I'm not constantly posting here about it. If I'm going to be visiting a particular area I may make a post asking if there are any hip-hop stations in the area, but I don't go off on a tangent if there aren't. Fortunatly for me I like many different types of music. If a hip-hop station isn't available where I'm travelling, I'm ususally able to find something I do like. (Example I spent a couple days in the Leghigh Valley Section of PA. No hip-hop stations there. {The CHR Station doesn't even play hip-hop} So I spent my time listening to the Oldies station).

I am so glad I clicked on this post to see what Bobby's response to Ozman's post was. This is great, what great input to the board!

Please leave your 'personal commentary' about others who post on this board to yourself. You're wasting my time and the owner's bandwidth.

His grammar might be off, but at least he contributed to the topic, much less of which can be said about the post...

Jay you ever hear the saying "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?"

Look into it...

> I like rap/hip-hop/r&b, but I'm not constantly posting here
> about it.

No, however you do constantly post about WXCT and WATR, a lot more than he posts about Rock. In fact more than most post about others. If you are tired of what he posts you simply don't have to read it, end of story...

Cmon Jay, you've made great strides in your behavior on the boards, don't take this major step backwards and fall into the bashing other members. You are way above that, I've seen it...

It's the northeast, except for the far northern regions, we are very tight in central-southern New England.

Yes, it is far enough away, it wouldn't cause any issues.
