92.1 playlist

According to Yes.com, here are the playlist listed for the 1:00pm hour.

1:02pm Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight
1:05pm En Vogue - Free Your Mind
1:10pm Madonna - Lucky Star
1:14pm Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars
1:21pm Bananarama - Cruel Summer
1:24pm Sugar Ray - Every Morning
1:28pm Pat Benatar - Shadows of The Night
1:36pm Jewel - You Were Meant For Me
1:39pm Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me 'Round(Like A Record)
1:42pm Matchbox Twenty - 3AM
1:51pm Prince - I Would Die 4 U
1:53pm The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
1:57pm T'Pau - Heart and Soul

Seeing this playlist, I think the new format is a crossover between hot AC and mainstream rock. While The River focuses on the 70's-90's classic rock hits, QFM is focusing on the hits of the 80's and 90's. Yesterday, when I first heard the format change, they were playing Outkast's "Hey Ya!". I thought it flipped to CHR, trying to compete with 97 BHT and KRZ.

I think that was Shamrock's plan to pick up where the former WWDL left off. These playlists listed above may seem similiar to WWDL's and Y 106.5's, but the format will be much harder than Magic 93.

So, would this means that it could become a "listen-at-work" station if it proves successful? Only time will tell...

This format "could" work but IF and only IF the playlist was vastly expanded as
I listened for 2 hours yesterday and heard 2 repeats of 2 the same songs.

If Shamrock is targeting people 25 to say 36 ish, those people will not say..."HEY did you hear WQFM today? They need a nickname or station positiong help.

Did you hear 92.1?? -- THE "INSERT NAME" Yeah, they sound great! You should put 92.1 THE "INSERT NAME" on.

I think QFM is allright. kind of like q-FM, or Maybe Q92? When I lived in Kansas in the Eighties there was a KQQF on 92.1. They called themselves Double Q 92.

The station, in my opinion, sounds good. It is what 'The Music Station' was, and should have been doing, and more. I like that they are not tossing in new music like TMS did, and that they are throwing in music that were good in the 80's and 90's, but not 'soft' enough for Magic 93 or 103 to play (Shakespear's Sister, Pearl Jam, The Verve, RHCP). The only thing that's not quite right is a "restricted playlist", or poorly constructed seperation. Aerosmith, Tracy Chapman, Janet Jackson are three that come to mind that I heard twice in one 6 hour listening period. Not the same song, per se, but the same artist. But, it's a new station, they are still ironing out the wrinkles.

As for the 'Penguins, they certainly do have a place, like the Red Barons did on TMS. Its a universal format, and if people are listening to the game, they are more likely to stay on after to listen to the station (imagine if BHT or WNAK did sports on-air..)... and hey, if you're not a penguins fan, but you are a fan of the station, people could start getting into them. Just like baseball, the hockey season will end eventually too for awhile.

So, I like it. Will I listen at work? Absolutely.

Let's see what their 'party weekend' style is like.

I agree, the playlist is restricted but I believe they are trying to work out the kinks a little bit, fine tune and then begin to expand the list, who knows but I am enjoying what I'm hearing.

Shamrock's Former Milwaukee,WI. Classic Rocker (WQFM) Was Known As Q-FM.

With Those Calls, It's Just A Natural. Why Over Complicate It?

Not a bad format, kind of a toned-down River. I keep hearing Outkast, too. Does somebody want to tell them that song isn't from the 80s or 90s?

Nobody said the songs were all from the 80s and 90s...they said "If you grew up in the 80s and 90s, we're for you."
