Spoken like a true offended hockey fan.

Interacting with the half-dozen hockey lovers that you know doesn't really mean you're interacting with other human beings either. I think it's a little bit myopic. Hockey has its fans and lots of them are rabid. But put all the hockey fans together, even the rabid ones, and they still represent a small minority of available listeners. Even major league hockey finds itself scratching it's butt for fans, so just because you think everyone is dying to hear hockey on the radio doesn't come close to making it true.

Tell you what, let's you and me stand on a street corner and stop people and ask them to name one WB/SCR Penguin. I'll give you 20 dollars for everyone who can name one. You give me 1 dollar for everyone who can't.

Thanks again for the gifts you got me. You got me too much as usual, but I'll have fun with the gift certificates. You'll have to let me know when you try the Christmas wine. So how was your football party? Hey, I have to tell you that Q-FM's new format is fabulous! I've been listening to it in the morning on the way to work and they're playing some really good music. Do they feel it's being well received?
My contribution to anecdotal evidence.

Do you hear yourself here? A friggin' hockey station? Would do well? With hockey fans maybe, but if every one of the people in those sold-out seats were listening to the "hockey station", you'd have 8000 listeners. Call that doing well?

Percentages are one thing. What are the numbers? How many of them are we talking? And what is it about hockey do you think, that women are attracted to? I mean besides their secret fantasies about 19 year old muscular guys with French accents, what is it they love about hockey?

And so for two hours, QFM has several hundred more listeners?

Right. They fill up the arena. And for the moms, families, and kids who aren't filling up the arena, do you really visualize the scene at home, "C'mon kids, let's gather around the radio. Hockey will be on soon." ???

There are some stations that would love that number.

They tell me they like the excitement, the action.

Point well taken there. But we do gather the kids
around the radio over the weekend to hear the polkas.
Admit it, don't you?????

Name the time
Name the place
I'll be there
Will you???

Save your money. But try it yourself if you doubt it. I mean, if you feel like standing on a street corner and asking people if they can name a Penguin. Try it here if you like. I know this is a skewed sample, but how 'bout it? Anyone reading this, can you name a Penguin? I'll start with the gimme...Bonvie. And that's because he's the high profile guy. Name another.

children---CHILDRENN!!!! IT'S GETTING TOO NOISY OVER AT THE KID'S TABLE!!!!!
One of the more endearing things about these message boards is the amount of shut-ins and misanthropes who will seldom if ever emerge from beyond their personal confines. That's the main reason behind the pi$$ing matches, everyone lives in their own personal world and refuses to be a part of the BIG ONE for whatever reason.
I, for one, will see you at the Arena Bar in W-B Saturday night for Dennis Bonvie's New Years Eve Party----think they can get 8000 people in there????

If you are a radio station for "adults" does it make a big difference what you do at night 80 times a year? I can't see the target audience for QFM listening at 10 PM.

Not if hockey's on.

Matt Hussey and Ryan Whitney. But never forget, I am the

my head.
