92-1 The Fake?

92-1 The Beat is having a "Akon & Llyod Weekend," and telling people to listen to text the world WIN for a chance to win concert tickets to The Beat Spring Breakout with Akon.

This is odd...

Because it's really the 106.9 K-HITS Spring Breakout with Akon. Thrown and fully paid for by K-HITS. So The Beat is giving promotion to a show that has K-Hits name all over it, and will have K-Hits logos all over the venue. Stupid?

My guess is they're faking the weekend contesting. Text the word WIN (rrright).

Brilliant. Prob not faking it. He who talks about it most, owns it.

What do you expect from the biggest fraud to head back up the 'pike? It sounds just like whaat the one-share looser recently from CC of OKC would do, for sure. Watch him bring 92.1 to it's knees before long too. Look for more stupid promotions that don't work and poor music choices, possibly a lot of no-name local band crap. Todd and his gang is going to kick the fraud's ass up and down the dial so hard it'll be hard to fathom.

Someone sounds bitter.

Not hardly. I just call'em like a see'm. That previous excuse for a P.D. at the Buzz was the most pathetic excuse for programming I've seen in decades. For the headshead in Tulsa to hire him after producing such a poor performance here in OKC just confirms to me CC has some people in the near top that are part of the problem and not the solution.

I hold no bitterness here except for BAD programming and those that bring it to OUR airwaves. As long as companies put people like that guy in places of authority, look for me to blast them.

Have a fine day.

Ok enough of the Corbin bashing guys. I hate the man as much as some of you people but hey, give him a chance he is new to this whole CHR thing I am sure, and who knows maybe he will do very well with it and be like a Mike McCoy of Tulsa one day. And DC is a nice guy and gave him a chance just like Matthew at KWCO, Barreda, and Tom at KHBZ-FM gave me. If it was not for people like them, Radio would really be bad. KHITS and BEAT are very successful stations in Tulsa and both have good talent.

I feel sorry for those that HAVE TALENT at the Beat. That guy will BEAT the life outta that station.. plain and simple. It just amazes me they'd hire him again to foul up yet another property. Why? Does this guy have incriminating pictures or something? WTF?

The listener doesn't care if K Hits or The Beat's concert -they just care if their favorite artist is gonna be there. It's a brilliant strategy by The Beat and there's nothing illegal about it.

Then why did they stop after they got a nasty threatening letter? ??? ???

It is illegal to do what they were doing, and just not cool. Giving away tickets is one thing, renaming the concert is another.

How is that illegal? It's just branding. Show me how that violates a law? They are still talking about it and giving away Akon tickets. (I heard The Beat talking about it just the other day.) It may be a cut throat but the Arbitron game IS cut throat and the listeners DON'T CARE who booked the show.

Legal, illegal whatever. It was way un-cool. They are wannabes at the Beat. I have yet to hear a thing on k-hits about te beat. Losers always squeal louder. Now with Corbin at the helm, yea good move.

How was SXSW? Find any great rhythmic top 40 acts there. This one is soon over!

LOL! It's hard to belive someone can make a full-power super-C in-town FM in OKC go all the way down to a 1.8. All-Polka would produce more numbers than that, especially if many of the books landed in Yukon. :D

That's what Clear Channel gets when they pay thier PD's crap!

BTW anyone listen to The Buzz lately? I put it back on my preset and It sounds pretty damn good.
