92.1 WLNG a real station

For those of you in South County you know what I am talking about. They have not lost thier touch at all. I tuned in the other night while in Westerly and was very impressed. They have added some 80's to the mix with a span of 50's to 80's.The old time jingles and a jock. Not sure if thier live but sound real good and not cookie cutter.
Why can a station like this keep it live, fresh and interesting and Clear Channel for example has gutted everything out.Cant sell ads.I wish WLNG was heard much north than it is because I believe they could do some good numbers in Providence.

Has anyone suggested a rational explanation of why there is no money at Clear Channel in Providence? We can't see the embargoed numbers but are they doing that badly? The economy is hitting everyone but Citadel seems to know how to work around things even if people take pay cuts. I don't think there's any earth shaking radio being done at Citadel but there's no bad radio being done either. What exactly is the problem at Clear Channel?

Kenny, as an avid DX'er, I have a great deal of trouble picking up WLNG from Narragansett, even Point Judith. Where does the signal improve? Perhaps it is better as one heads west along Route 1?

WLNG had been run for years by the late Paul Sidney. The station's co-owner is continuing his legacy in superserving the East End.

By the way, even if you're out of the area, they stream online.

We listened to LNG going east from Norwich on Rt 82 going towards East Haddam CT Pretty decent signal and mostly good songs.
It comes in reasonably well in the Westerly RI area, not as well downtown Westerly proper.
Programming is better than B 101.5..

I remember when WLNG had its 500 watt AM station, heard easily in South County.......It was on 1600, but was taken dark to allow for WWRL's daytime power increase, as was WQQW 1590 in Waterbury CT.

It's a great oldies station. If there ever was/or is a station that truly super-serves their audience, it's got to be WLNG. It is truly an amazing and unique radio station. Hope they never change. Now if only B101 could ever go back to the oldies format. It used to be one of my favorite presets (used to be...).

PRO-FM's powerful signal probably hampers reception of WLNG in both Narragansett and in Newport County.

I grew up hating how Pro-FM hampered reception of K-Rock in New York! I'm just sayin' ;)
