92.3 Nights Just Got Chunky

is it me or does this guy Chunky bear a slight resemblance to "Speedy" (old 103.5, no??) - but i do think he's cute, though!! :)

Now back to 92.3 - ok, you got your evenings, you got your afternoons - am i missing something here, or is there a morning show missing from the new 92.3 Now?? ???

Yep, strange way to build a station. No morning show yet. It's important to have that to build your station and your audience for the rest of the day. Next is the guy for nights, I bet ;)

92.3 is positioning against Z100, who plays little music in AM Drive. Don't like all the talk on Elvis? You've got another choice on radio in the morning. I assume they will eventually have a morning show, but a guess (and what do I know? ) it won't be a yak fest.

Speedy was a short dark skinned Hispanic with a mustache. They look NOTHING alike. That said, this is Big Boy from Detroit's 95.5. I guess with Big Boy on HOT he had to change his name.

No, it's not Arsenio Hall's alter ego doing nights, but an actual jock who calls himself Chunky:

And I thought "Sluggo" was a weak DJ name...

What a great way to appeal to NY'ers by wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates hat.

I love that he "Like" the Jersey Shore" as if he's spent a lot of time there living in Detroit and he "dislikes"
Z100 for being old and he doesn't like their music. So he works at a station that plays the SAME music as Z100 and 3 months ago would have killed to work there. Did he even write his bio page?

Radaioman, you come off as jealous. Who the freak cares what kind of hat he's wearing? I promise you, everytime I'm in the city, or in Jersey, or Queens, whatever, I see a heck of a lot more hats than just a Yankees, Mets, Jets, etc. hat. Get out more. How do you know he's never been to the shore? Have you traveled with him? Spy on him on his time outside the booth? Geezus.

Jealous? I'm not a jock and don't want to be. Who cares? people care. NY'ers don't like out of towners and NY sports fans don't like out of town sports fans. Yes you see other hats in NYC. Usually by urban kids who wear them for fashion, not sports. The guy should at least be trying to be a little NY if he wants to be on a NY radio station. As for the Jersey Shore, maybe he went there when he was on in Philly. Either way, he doesn't sound great on air. Is that fair? I just felt his "bio" was too forced and hack. Not sincere.

So a female caller called 92.3 Now FM asking "What happened to K-Rock"
Chunky then berated the caller
Caller: "Why do we need this Britney Spears [bleep] playing on 5 stations"
Chunky: "Is rock really that important to you"
Caller: "Yes, I listened to K-Rock all my life. What is this Now crap that took over K-Rock"
Chunky: "Listen, lady, I need you to do 2 things. First, get a boyfriend"
Caller: "I have a boyfriend, he is sitting right next to me"
Chunky: "and 2. You need to get a life"
Caller: "I already have a life"
Chunky hangs up

It's similar to when Wired 96.5 replaced 80s rock 96.5 The Point in Philly, Rocco the Janitor called a female caller who complained about the format change a MILF.
Gotta flush the audience of the old station.

There ya go...it's a fashion thing....but it's not just "urban" kids who do it. I suppose if his first pic was wearing a Knicks shirt, and some form of NY hat, you'd say he's trying too hard? I just think you're being just a tad overly picky about 1 picture and 1 show. No offense.

I agree that girl does need a boyfriend and a life!!!

You cut her up Flunky!!! You are a talent that NYC needs.

I'll be tuning in every night, unless one of my shows is on, or I'm out drinking, or I play video games, or I go to a movie, or I actually have a date (for once right Flunk?), or I'm turning in early, or I read, or...

TiK Tak, Chunky-what else? DJ DigStim?

The good thing is if CBS continues their descent and the heat is turned off, they can crawl inside chunky like a camel to keep warm.

It would probably make sense that they would unveil their new morning show right around the time their 10,000-in-a-row stunt is over - and they are able to play full-length spots. I think that's how it was back when Ed Lover & Dr. Dre got underway on Power 105.1.

Kiss in Hartford has Munchie and Skillet. I guess i shouldn't be surprised the station uses lame names like that when the PD calls himself Stan 'The Man' off air and Justin Sane on air.

lame

Don't think they start with a morningshow when the 10.000 commercial free songs are done. I think that they start with a morning show with no announcement in the media, just what they did with the rest of the jocks currently on air. So it's a suprise when the morning show starts.

Well I remember when 93.7 flipped to B-94 again in Pittsburgh in October 2007, they had afternoons and nights filled by November 2007, and the morning show started in January.

And they are a CBS owned station as well.

I got $100 that says Booker will end up doing mornings. And... He'll lose! I'm still trying to figure out how this guy keeps landing all of these lucrative gigs without ever having ratings success.
