92.3 Now prank gone wrong

The morning show decided to tie balloons to a dog to see how many it would take to lift him. Unfortunately it worked too well and the dog went up up and away. According to the station the dog was last spotted flying over Woodbridge, NJ.

CBS Radio has done a lot of questionable stunts (remember sex in a church on WNEW?) but this one is just cruel. The reaction on Twitter and Facebook is largely negative.

Hopefully this was just a sick prank and they didn't tie the balloons to a real dog (that's what I think they did since there were reports of people seeing that in the sky).

All I have to say is WTF, and I don't mean Win Tickets Free.

This is a very old bit. The "dog" you see is fake (if they really sent something up) or photoshopped. It's all theater of the mind designed to generate a reaction. It's been done by dozens of radio stations over the years.

You remember those Chick-Fil-A commercials with the cows dropping into a football stadium? Same deal.

I can just imagine the view as the pooch sails over Route 9.

Really?

Really?

Really?

Nobody's that F@$%&&% stupid! NOBODY!

And the fact that this is what "Nick Cannon" is coming up with it pitiful!

Doesn't matter if this was a joke or not, the way it was all played out made it look like this was the real thing. For people who are saying "get over it, it was a joke," STFU. We all went crazy with the guy who played a joke about his son getting carried away in a balloon. He ended up with criminal charges. The same thing should happen to Nick Cannon and whoever else at 92.3 Now allowed this horrible stunt, joke or not.

@sdh483: I suppose you can say that, just like the "Balloon Boy" family, Nick Cannon "did it for the show," as B-squared himself would say... If this is what you have to resort to to generate a buzz for your show and the station, you probably won't be around a year from now... in fact, don't be surprised if 92.3 flips to all-Christmas sometime within the next thirteen months...

@Nick: HD? What's that?

There's a sucker born every minute. And apparently there are a few who need to take Skepticism 101....

No kidding. People who can't remember important lists of 3 still think they should be President.

Most typical "whacky morning zoo" shows do stunts like those as an inside joke on that part of the audience that's far too gullible, with the other part of the audience laughing at those who fell for it.

Not dissimilar to how Phil Hendrie conducts his talk show, if you think about it.

New call letters soon WFAN-FM?
The Mets stay on 660 WFAN long term and the Yankees move to 92.3 WFAN-FM

It only takes one balloon to lift up a ball park.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!
