92.3 Now speeding up the music

The programming rocket scientists at 92.3 have FINALLY figured it out!!! THIS will clearly be the thing to provide that much needed boost in the ratings that has eluded them for the last couple of years!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!! ;D

When I was growing up I didn't know about radio station's speeding up or pitching up the music and I remember taping songs off KISS 95.7 and playing them back thinking "Hey my tape recorder is broken it's playing these songs too fast." I threw out several tape recorders (all bought a garage sales) because of this.

BTW KISS 95.7 used to play Christmas music for several hours on Christmas morning and even those were sped up, which really sounds ridiculous especially with numerous other stations playing the same songs at normal speed.

Speeding up the music or playing at higher pitches is a huge turnoff and is totally unnecessary.
Sounds bad on top of that. I switch the station or avoid it all together.

Umm... does no one on this board listen to WKTU? They have been speeding the crap out of songs for the last 10 years. Regularly. I'm listening to them do it right now....

I was told by my first PD, second PD and third PD that the speeding up of the songs makes it sound more "exciting to the listener" over the competition. The actual time gained in an hour by a 2% increase in speed would really not affect your spotload. So no, it doesn't have to do with spots...
