Are they now Hot Talk 24/7, is there any music on the station, in Philly, YSP is talk until 7pm, they play their usual Active Rock format from 7pm until 6am and on the weekends. How long the music will last is anyones guess, there are many rumors circulating about what will happen. YSP is still leaving some music to block another station from going Active full time, which is kinda selfish, but a good business move. If 92.3 is playing music, what type are they pushing? Thanks.

I believe all the free fms are playing the same mix of active rock. The free fm here in phoenix is playing music 8p-6a right now until Phil Hendrie starts on the 20th and then will switch music to 11p-6a. Anyways, I believe they position all free fms as rock/talk alternative stations.

I turned on Free FM this morning just before 6 o'clock and they were rebroadcasting their midday show from the previous day.

I thought they might be doing music after 3 AM but apparently the music begins on Fridays at 10 PM and I assume goes continuously till Monday morning at 6 o'clock.

We'll have to see what happens regarding music on the station. As you probably remember, wnew fm eventually dropped music in the days of their attempt at hot talk. Will the same thing happen on Free FM? Time will tell.

WCKG in Chicago (Free FM) plays no music at all, except for The Zeppelin Hour (A specialty show on the weekends) In 2002 they played active rock nights and weekends. It was later changed to classic based rock and limited to overnights. Now there is none at all.<P ID="signature">______________

yes but CKG was not a talk convert from music, they have been talk for years. They just re branded it as "Free Fm" other than that they should not change much about the CKG formula since it's been woprking for a long time.

KIFR, 106.9 FREE-FM in San Francisco is all talk.

6AM: Adam Corolla (Formerly the Doghouse, JV and Elvis, Now on New York's Free-FM)
10AM: Darien O'Toole
2PM: Penn Gillette
3PM: John London
7PM: Tom Leykis

And yet more questions about FREE FM

How did Infinity decide David Lee Roth should be put on its eastern stations and Adam Carolla in the west? Did they sit down and pour over market research on this, and notice that the numbers suggested that this would be a good idea?

Or is it maybe a strategy to try a couple of different personalities in different regions, and see who "hits"? Just wondering.

Or is it pointless of me to be asking these questions?

I would guess that Corolla being based in LA had a lot to do with it, the time difference and all.

I dont hear "Hot talk" but a bunch of mostly middle aged guys doing male-lifestyle talk (Sports,ex-wives,the kids, some politics and current news, some religious discussion, etc).I cant picture most of Free Fm's lineup getting down and dirty so to speak, like O&A,R&F or Stern.Only exeption is the Radio Chick. She knows how to do "Hot Talk" right!

Re: And yet more questions about FREE FM

Only bad things is for anyone in the mountain time zone (phoenix) we get screwed on the start time of Carolla. Right now KZON is running yesterdays Carolla show 5-7am and then running the live show 7-11am. Is kinda weird listening to the first two hours in the morning again the next day LOL. I think Carolla should start at 6am L.A. time and run the show for five hours but thats just my take.

Yeah well you'll note that WNEW ( O and A, R & R, radio chick) is no longter doing "hot talk",...........why? maybe because guys like you were supposed to be the audience and listen to you: JV annd Elvis? Middle aged?....no, Booker Middle aged?...no, Jake and Julie? he's 26...........The only ones that are actually middle aged are Radio Chick and Roth........So much for your theory.
