92.3 Sounds good tonight

> No Iggy on your radio dial.
>

Nor are we "kicking it" or "hanging out" with him! ;) It's also nice not hearing Iggy "definately recommending" CDs. I swear every break I catch, he's either recommending CDs, or saying the word "awesome" 12 times. Seriously, Iggy says "awesome" about as much as Seth the Barbarian siad "man" every break. It's called show prep, or at least planning out your break before you go live. Ask Verlane, he'll show you how it's done!

I believe a change is coming soon, possibly in January with the morning show moving to the windy city. Maybe move Iggy to mornings to board op and do local weather and traffic reports, and get Verlane in the 7 to midnight slot. Thoughts?

> Thoughts?

Does anybody really care at this point? It seems they are constantly tweaking their product everytime a book comes out and they realize that WMMS beat them.

Once again.

It's time for Infinity to do some solid market research and flip it. But then again, the formats on that frequency have been flipped so many times in the past several years that I don't think most of the Cleveland market really cares at this point or will take it seriously.

Can I get you some X-lax? Because you've been on the pot long enough.

92.3 Flip? Not looking likely...

To what? No, I'm serious...

It would appear that Infinity is not going to make any changes in the near term. Most of that speculation got thrown out when they announced that Rover was staying on 92.3, and that David Lee Roth would supplant Stern on 98.5. The incumbent formats on both frequencies are the most compatible for those hosts. I can't see Infinity throwing "JACK FM" on 92.3, for example, if Rover's still there.

Now, if Roth tanks, for example, and they slide Rover to 98.5 at some point later next year, all bets are off. For now, it doesn't look like it's happening.

You've certainly got Iggy down pretty good. Iggy has lasted this long, its kind of amazing. They must see/hear something in him that we don't I guess. Full-time nontheless....Monday through Friday....Market #25....boggles the mind. BTW....someone needs to get Fenix a memo that the System Of A Down song is called Question, not Questions. <P ID="signature">______________

Well put OA. Exactly, what do they flip to? Also, are they making money? If they are, and/or don't think they can make more with another format, why change.

Speaking of 92.3

I was downtown yesterday and saw an RTA drive by that still, believe it or not, had a 92.3 The Beat billboard on the front of it. I did a double take, but sure enough, there it was.

Rover on classic rock? Stern seemed to have work because of his name recognition, more universal appeal, etc. But Rover seems to skew younger. Maybe I'm wrong.

That shows that as bad as radio sales are, the RTA is even worse off.

My assumption, if Roth tanked on 98.5 and they move Rover there from 92.3, is that they'd move the alt-rock format over with him (or maybe even do that "Free FM" talk thing).

Classic rock would then either swap to 92.3, or another format would place there, be it JACK FM or whatever. Or if 98.5 went "Free FM" talk after a new Rover placement, maybe the alt-rock stays without Rover on 92.3.

Again, all of this wild speculation would assume a massive failure by Roth on 98.5 after a year or so. I am frankly not betting even part of the house on it right now.

Which is EXACTLY why I said do some market research. Let them figure it out because they obviously haven't been able to figure out what they want to do on 92.3 LOL

Re: 92.3 Flip? Not looking likely...

Does Infinity have a market manager or some kind of executive(s) in charge of Cleveland? If so, who are they? I'm from out of the market and I don't work for Infinity but I'm curious as to who's making the decisions about the formats at those places and the websites aren't very informative about the shadowy cabals that make shady decisions.

As someone who works in Columbus, I think Rover would do better on a Classic Rock station than 92.3 if they continue to shift their Alternative sound.

Infinity had two VPs/GMs for each of its station blocks: Chris Maduri is head of the AC (WDOK/WQAL) block; Walt Tiburski *was* head of the rock block (WNCX/WXTM). I don't know if Walt was replaced, or if Infinity has a single VP/GM for the entire C-Town cluster (ala Clear Channel's Jim Meltzer).

I believe Tom Herzchel is the VP/GM of WNCX/WXTM.
