Seems like the switch has been pulled and the new format is on the air. I hear new sweepers, new jingles and the music is definitely more A/C. So far (outside of mornings) it isn't too bad. Must be Mr. Cheapiro felt that a more mainstream A/C would sell better in the Upper Valley. Judging by the former XL92.3 ratings I would have to agree with him. But then no one in that building on the mall (except the CC leftovers) will ever care about ratings. They will only care about how many commercials they can fit into an hour.

Be kind to Mr. Shapiro, after all regardless of what you call him, he is ultimately responsible for making sure the 'mortgage' gets paid on those radio stations. It is designed to be a business, not a non-profit enterprise. Ratings are not a huge deal and at the end of the day and don't mean much to the bottom line in all geographic enclaves of market #179. The only 'ratings' that matter in this small market are the 'revenue ratings' and making those goals. The mainstream A/C is a good idea, business friendly, office friendly, family friendly, and can be perceived as the only local AC in that part of the market since the market's other AC, WJJR, focuses in on the Rutland end of the market. Jo Jo is correct. Last I knew....it wasn't 'cheap' to buy a whole new pro sounding jingle package. Plus remember, HE JUST TOOK OVER. It will take a while for any changes to make a real difference.
