Wow. What is it about the terrain features south of Atlanta that makes this station so directional, though using a non-directional antenna?

Sounds like a good move for that station. Hopefully, the management won't do anything stupid, like sell out to Clear Channel, for example. Maybe with the right kind of marketing, WEKS can super-serve the area between Atlanta and Columbus.

By the way, here's Radio-Locator's map of the WEKS construction permit, if anybody's interested.

I get SO tired of people bashing Clear Channel. How the HELL would "sellng out" to Clear Channel effect this station???? Perhaps the CC Atlanta cluster is not the best, but come on....

Atlanta is on a geographic slope...with the southern end of the metro lower than the north...signals from the south tend to do better as a result...

The signal plows into the slope, as it were...in layman's terms.

Give 92.5 to Jefferson Pilot (or Lincoln, whatever the hell it is); they only have two sticks in Atlanta.

The Longely-Rice maps we have from Brock do NOT show this odd-ball pattern. We have no idea where the FCC got the one they display on their web site.
There are terrain issues south of the airport which, for example, give J93 problems in certain areas. But if you check their FCC website map it is not skewed.
You can be certain, the antenna WILL be a lightbulb pattern with the main lobe towards Atlanta, and minor lobes towards Newnan, PTC, and Fayetteville. I already bought the chicken wire to hang behind the antenna. The new site offers, in theory, the best Atlanta/S. Atlanta coverage.

Why would that be stupid? If Chuck did sell, that would certainly be a SMART move on his part. If you have $5-million, YOU could buy it.

Because Clear Channel almost always finds a way to trim the fat, or cut the costs. It's no wonder why CC is sometimes referred to as "Cheap Channel".

Don't believe me? Try http://www.salon.com, and type in "Clear Channel" as the keywords.
