92.5 Austin is now Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel

At least it fills a format hole, albeit with a lousy signal. But it's sounds pretty good!

I gave it about ten minutes this morning and didn't hear a thing I was interested in. At this point at least, I didn't hear a live human voice involved with it at all. Without a smart jock, "oldies" are just an IPod.

Given the pissant signal of 104.9 around my part of the woods, I'd have preferred they left 1530 there. But I know that's a waste of a frequency.

Looking at the FCC Records of this station they have a APP to move to Sunset Valley, and the coverage looks to be city grade coverage for Austin. Wonder if that will pan out. :-\

Several things that have to take place before they can do it. One is a frequency change for Burnet, two changes in allocation sites for planned stations in Mason and Santa Anna and changing the COL for KWNX 1260 from Taylor to Elgin. Despite all that it will probably happen and yes, they will have city-grade coverage of Austin.

With an extremely weak Austin signal, there is no way this station can be successful.

there's only one place i found a write up about the new format on 92.5, it is on the austin post site. nothing in the austin statesman, or other sites.

Nobody will care? - Nov PPM for same exact 'Scott Shannon Oldies Format' (from Radio Info ratings)

Chicago - #11 12+ WLS-FM 3.4 share 1,508,900 cume Oldies Citadel
Atlanta - #11 12+ WYAY-FM 4.0 share 572,800 cume Oldies Citadel

Same station, imaged for a different city. Even with the lousy signal and Border running it, 92.5 is sure to find an audience somewhere.

Listened to it on my way home from work today from downtown to Slaughter/Manchaca area and didn't have any signal issues at all.

I won't.

This isn't Chi.

This isn't Atlanta.

This is a market that supports country music and oddities like KGSR. Maybe this IPod will find an audience here as well, but jeez, don't take it personally! ;D

I can't put my finger on it, but something's missing on the ''True Oldies Channel.'' It's no KONO.

That's it, Fred. Something like KONO could indeed do well here. But this ain't it, IMHO.

I like KONO listen to it every time i'm in SA but to be honest this station plays more of a selection of Oldies from like the early 60's than KONO does KONO used to play early 60's and even some late 50's but now they went more late 60's and 70's. I dunno this station just plays a better selection of oldies than KONO I like both stations though and I have friends that are listening to 92.5 and they like it.

I haven't really listened much to this station, but im not sure it really matters. Because the signal is limited to only extremely east austin and round rock, it will never make a dent in any of the austin ratings.
