92.5 pirate (a few years ago)

anyone else remember the brief appearance of a pirate on 92.5? all the talk about the
FCC cracking down in NYC made me think of it. the 92.5 signal was strong...in the car
it carried from Hermitage (and points east) to Music Row.
I could hear it in the CC building on a SuperRadio III near the front windows (2nd floor).
then there was the guy running on 101.7 from the old Red Lobster on Murfreesboro Rd...
(ran spots for the alternative lifestyle club in the building at the time).

any others?

I think I heard the same pirate. The signal was very strong from my workplace near the I-65/Briley Parkway/Dickerson Pike Interchange to my home near the KMart on Donelson Pike. This one played uncensored rap music. I also heard it on 101.5 for a couple days. It also had a bad 60 cycle hum in the audio.

I heard another one on 87.9 that sounded like it was hooked to a satellite receiver. It kept changing programs. I may have been picking up someone's FM modulator who was driving near me. This was on Briley Parkway in front of The Opryland Hotel. (I did hear this one over a few days though.)

Remember the McDonald's, near Opryland, broadcasting on, I think, 1600. The used the call sign WMAC and it could be heard for about a mile in either direction up and down Briley.

Two Rivers Baptist used to broadcast their services on 1610. I guess they gave up when the Airport TIS station on 1610 began broadcasting.

And, I remember the TIS station on 580 for the Opryland Park.

When I lived near Harding Place and I-24 in the 80's, there was a pirate on 107.9 that was very strong all over the southern Nashville area. I bet the Airport loved that one.

And, I have heard of one that pops up at Christmas in the Springfield area. I have never picked that one up here in Nashville, though.

I have a C Crane FM Transmitter I use on the weekends to stream internet radio to me while I work in the yard. It is on 89.9 and only transmits a couple hundred feet on a good day. It sometimes gets strong interference from a transmitter that never broadcasts any audio. On other days, its gets interference from a WAY-FM translator.

And, I heard a station on 830 driving home from work a few years ago. It was very strong all over the Eastern Nashville area. Only heard it that one day.

This one moved to TSU for a year or two. Haven't heard it in a long time.

I've heard this one. Can't remember the frequency. It seems to peak a mile or two west of Springfield, a bit north of Hwy. 49. Estimate a few watts. (5-20)

Besides those, I've heard signals on 103.9 relaying AM 560. I know they own that station up in Kentucky (that seems to operate for a few hours every few months) but these signals don't seem consistent with that site.

During the July 4th fireworks sales season a few years ago, someone at one of the fireworks stands up here in Pleasant View was relaying WSM 650 down at the bottom end of the FM band. Running about 5 watts or so, I could hear it (though not very well) at home about 5 miles from the stands.

In the mid-90s, one day I was spinning through the AM expanded band during a summer day & heard someone with EXTREME right-wing talk. I mean, take the most extreme thing you've ever heard on a 3rd-tier talk show. This guy would make that sound like Communism.
