92.5 Quality Control

1/16/09 5:50 AM to about 7:05 AM...
Sitting in my office trying to listen to 92.5...

10 seconds of silence
fades into the middle of a Bob and Tom bit...
fades out during the same bit...
a few seconds of bumper music...
fades into the middle of a commercial spot...
<repeats this a couple times with different bits and spots>
many more seconds of silence...
intro music plays...
Bob and Tom show starts... It's the Monday 1/5/09 show...
That plays for about a minute, long enough for them to talk about the upcoming BCS championship game...
Fades out in the middle of their convo, and the intro music plays again...
Another B&T bit starts up, and actually completes this time...
Intro music plays again...
B&T show starts again, appears to be today's show because they say "Friday edition" and talk about the inauguration.

woo hoo. modern radio.

Where are all the board ops when we need them? Oh yeah, thanks to computers and wonderful automated technology we don't need them anymore!

Maybe instead of whining about it on the boards, someone should form a 501c that acts as a watchdog over radio that doesn't serve its community, sort of like the CVV or PTC, but instead of worrying about indecency worry about things such as public service and localism. Then take the next step and file complaints with the FCC. I hope radio is one of the areas Obama re-reguates, unfortunatley he'll probably add regulations to businesses that have very few barriers of entry.

With all due respects, Tito...I think the soon-to-be-President has a heck of lot more on his plate than a radio station whose computer isn't working right. It'll be a long time before, if ever, he gets around to this...and, given the sorry state of the economy caused by both Democrats and Republicans, I hope he worries about this first.

Interestingly enough, about an hour after I wrote my previous post, I heard a weather update on WNCI/Columbus that played the weather bed music but no actual weather report was actually heard. The music continued on for two minutes before they went on to the next tune. Radio automation at its best. ::)

After Barak Hussein Obama regulates Bob and Tom, he can look into the economy, terrorism, the power grid, Internet forums, renewable energy, health care, global cooling/warming, #2 pencils, Coke Zero, Webkinz, Windows XP SP 3, California going bankrupt, dead pixels on flat panel monitors, and lady bug infestations.

I wonder if he is aware that the CRT industry needs a bailout.
