92.5 The Crush San Luis Obispo

Santa Maria is not included in the SLO rated market.

He did get rid of the albatross of KXTY, finally ... and that cost someone a million.

Lazar bought it for 1.2 million. I suppose it will go Spanish.

AGM ignored the fact that Hot AC never works in this market. They have about the same shares that they had with Star 92.5. By the way, Rhythmic Oldies would never get a 4 share in SLO County... never! Too niche. The Hispanic comp is just 17% (Fresno is 42 percent and that's why it works there) and I'd venture to say half of that 17% are North County farm workers. It's not as if the Lazer listeners are going to switch over to a Mega format. Completely different life group. It'll be interesting to see if the bounce KSTT got in it's last book is real because it's moved to a much more Hot AC position. I suspect that it had gotten a little stale (probably lack of a recent music test) and that any change was going to help, at least temporarily. If AGM were smart they would flip the Crush Mainstream/Gold AC today. The average listener in SLO County is not 39 as stated in another post, it's actually 44. KSTT abandoned the soft position in the market and being the king of the soft hill is a license to print money. It may sound boring to a lot of people but "boring AC stations" kill in ratings and revenue in Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco... and KSTT, despite a couple of off books, has been the dominant 25-54 female station in SLO and the revenue winner for years.

Nice post... they'ld be smart to pick up the Delilah show... can't figure out why Coast dropped it... that show is the only thing that can get listeners at night on an AC station... that's why it's on in every market... and the competition always wishes they had it. SLO doesn't want one HOT AC... much less 3... between COAST, CRUSH and KRUZ... wow... nobody cares... here's new music from... who???

Believe it or not, I hear Q-104.5 is the station that's under a microscope right now, and not the Crush... they think they're on to something... :D HAHAHAHAHA!

What a waste of an enormous signal.

Much of the change at COAST is due to the change in ownership. The new PD is a hot a/c guy from the desert...too young and inexperienced to execute a successful soft rock/ac format. So instead of bringing in someone that understood the format, they ditch it because their PD doesn't have the chops for it.

Nice way to throw away more than 15 years of heritage in this market...they shoulda kept Andy in there as PD...he was doing well to preserve the brand and meet audience expectations.

Someone soon WILL take that format position here, and deliver the goods to the overwhelming 35-54 at-work females that were very loyal to COAST all these years.
