92.7 Format Change

The JOSE format is said to be a Spanish version of the JACK format.

Aren't KWID and KRGT also considered to be Spanish versions of JACK (with personalities)? If so 92.7 moved into some crowded territory. Or are KWID and KRGT better described as Spanish language classic hits? Hopefully DE will see this thread.

I'm hoping for DE to explain the differences, too.

I've been listening to the LA Jose station on line, and heard some AC or even MORish ballads; while the local Lapreciosa station (I think it's the satellite feed) sounds closer to regional Mexican. I'm not sure how Recuerdo compares. Are they all just different flavors of an oldies-based format, while regional Mexican is current-based?

That's an exaggeration. José is like Jack only in its jocklessness.

Recuerdo, dating to 2000, is a collection of the adult hits of Mexico from the late 60's through about 2005 or 2006. The presentation is personality style and seemingly devoid of formatics... friendly and similar to that of smaller market Mexican radio of the same period. The music ranges from pop ballads to ranchera, cumbia and norteña.

La Preciosa is a copy, dating to about 2005, of the format.

José is another copy, dating to about 2 years ago, with no jocks.

José is the most regional and plays some songs that are the most current. Preciosa has the biggest library, about 1800 songs. Recuerdo is the most balanced with ballads and grupera and ranchera and even cumbia.

"Oldies" means 60's based in the trade; Recuerdo spans the late 60's through the mid-2000's so is more an adult hits station.

Most regional Mexican stations are about 60% current and recurrent.
