Well Saga has unveiled their newest station.

Oldies format....
what does this do to the Eagle?

Worst thing about this is it sounds like it's on a bird. (satellite)

I guess Triple FM should change their name... There are now 5 stations in the cluster. lol

Yawn.
Isn't this oldies station on an FM translator?
That will really increase their bottom line by millions, especially in Jonesboro.

Hey, J. Harmon...they're id'ing it as hd3 of KDXY-FM (104.9 The Fox)...and, it's the satellite delivered Scott Shanon True Oldies format...I've been spot checking it the last couple days and they've really got the bass turned way up...but, overall it sounds tight...and, it's nice to hear Scott on the air every afternoon starting at 1 pm...their music mix is MUCH better than many standard oldies stations...expanded playlist and playing many artists that had top-40 hits but never get any airtime on standard oldies formats. I've also listened to their signal as far South as Cherry Valley; West to Walnut Ridge and they have a decent signal in Paragould...they're running lots of promo's for a 'sales professional' ...and, I know they've loaded up their other hd-2 channel, Hot 107-5! You have to give Trey and Bill credit for doing things in a smart, forward thinking manner...I'd hate to be over at smootch-fm right now...they dropped like a rock in the Fall book and I'll bet those listeners they lost went straight to Hot 107.5...now, let's see how many listeners True Oldies will steal from wolf!

Dennis,
Happy Holidays. Scott Shannon True Oldies channel is pretty good. I listen when I can. I hope they do well with it, but I just wonder how they will monetize it and how will it show up in the ratings. I remember that the market only has about 6 million in revenue according to Miller Kaplan, so good luck to them.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well, Mr. Harmon...and, believe me, Kevin Neathery's sales staff at the new Jonesboro Radi Group is the best in the market and they will make money! Trust me on this one...dr

I think it is a shrewd move.

1. Hot steals a little share from Kiss.
2. True Oldies steals a little share from Wolf.
3. Kfin just plain sucks.
4. Saga prefers to sell their stations as a combo pack rather than individuals.
5. They will sell based on 12+ and female demo numbers
6. They will command the lion's share of the market dollars and will suck the life out EAB.
7. EAB remains comically inept.

Is KIYS still "moving" to Memphis?

Last I heard about Clear Channel moving 101.9 to the Memphis market (Crawfordsville, Ar) was that it was supposed to happen about 6 months ago...haven't heard a peep about that in the last 6 months or so...who knows? I agree with your synopsis of the Jonesboogie market. dr

The more I know about this, it works...

Trey really knows what he's doing.

The bad thing about this market is EAB. It's almost like they don't give a rat's ass about any of their group but Kiss (the cash cow)

You are correct, sir...and their 'cash cow' ain't doin' so good these days. dr

Might be time to take that 'cash cow' to market for a few 'magic' beans.

I'm feeling a bit like steak right now.

I guess that will all change with 101.9 lights up on the old 101.1 stick next to the I 55 - Mississippi River bridge

I REALLY don't think that is going to happen. With the amount of time that has passed, if CC had any sense, they would wait and see what happens when the PPM's start up. That'll give a better indication of exactly WHICH station to put on that stick.

Oh wait -- CC having sense, that's highly unlikely.
