92.7 Rev

I’m from Wisconsin and I knew some people who listened to their flagship WVCY and I listened myself at times growing up. The music is quite relaxing. The talk is more controversial but I’ll explain that later.

They had very humble beginnings. Mostly leasing time on FM signals in Milwaukee in the 60s before they were able to buy what is now their flagship. Was a radio outlet for Milwaukee Youth for Christ (VCY stands for Voice of Christian Youth) A lot of the audience likely grew up with it in some form like I did.

Their views on the talk shows are extremely Conservative and Fundamentalist. I don’t agree with a lot of what they say. They always seem to act or give an impression that they’re being threatened. I personally don’t believe they are being threatened. They simply have a different take on society and politics than others which is OK. I know political and social views of a lot of people in San Francisco for example is something they have a problem with. I see them broadcasting their message to that area as a way to offer their point of view to any potential listener in that area. More power to them.

Their music is very traditional. A lot of it originates from vinyl that they played during their early days. I think their show Sacred Stylings does come from the original music library. Most of it is out of print. Music til Dawn is an excellent program. I consider it their finest along with Sacred Stylings.

They also air a suite of old Children’s programs originally from WMBI Chicago on Saturdays. Ranger Bill, Sailer Sam, etc. These shows were originally broadcast in the 50s and Early 60s.

The signal is terrible. I live in the East Bay and you can barely hear it.
I've been able to pick up 92.7 in San Jose for years even though Radio Locator says its signal doesn't even reach the city. Ditto for KALW 91.7.

Chances are you live in the hilly part of the East Bay. When I used to live on the 680 side of Contra Costa County, some SF FM stations that I could pick up clearly in my SJ home were a bit scratchier at my "other" home.

And to think, I once heard it via Eskip in Wyoming 850 miles away a summer ago.

VCY must be saying WTF? after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals threw Crazy Ed Stolz a bone in their recent ruling:

Interesting decision:

In recent weeks Stolz has been trying to convince the judge that the $1.7 million he deposited with the court is enough to cover the $1.3 million in damages his stations owe a group of record labels, music publishers and other rights holders which brought a copyright infringement case against the FMs. Bernal has scheduled a hearing for May 10 in Los Angeles on the request.

It sounds like the original judge lost patience with Stolz, and the appeals court is new to this game. Who knows? If Stolz gets his stations back, then VCY sues Patrick for all the abuse they went through this past year.
