92.7 Rev

...and the hits just keep on comin' for Crazy Ed.

Strange, but incredibly true, if you don't do an ID in spoken word, you can use Morse code: Now Ed Stolz Is Facing FCC Review Of His Palm Springs Translators.

That's correct. You can also use FSK or Frequency Shift Keying to convey the Legal ID. We use them on a number of translators and I do not understand why everyone doesn't use this method. It is compliant and totally eliminates the ridiculous alpha-numeric soup of legal ids that are just aural clutter (even more so if you have more than one translator!).

Perhaps he is the offspring of the more widely known "Mister Ed".

(The hind quarters, particularly)
That explains it. Crazy Ed lives in a stall behind Wilbur and Carol's home. The Posts drive their Studebaker to market to pick up fresh hay and carrots. Because he has hooves, Ed can't use Morse code to ID his translators - Shirley the FCC will understand.

I've been able to pick up 92.7 in San Jose for years even though Radio Locator says its signal doesn't even reach the city. Ditto for KALW 91.7.

Chances are you live in the hilly part of the East Bay. When I used to live on the 680 side of Contra Costa County, some SF FM stations that I could pick up clearly in my SJ home were a bit scratchier at my "other" home.
I'm in the south part of San Jose, and it barely make it down here ( and that's on my best radios).
There are to many factors, and location is top priority. If you lived in an apartment building(on the top floor, facing north toward SF, you will not have to much trouble. If you used an outdoor antenna on the roof, that changes things up a bit to. Living north of downtown, closer to the water, etc.. There are just to many variables as to why you picked up 92.7, and why others(like me) could barely hear it. I have better luck picking up KTOM from the central coast (again, only on my best FM radios). Right now, it looks like 92.7 has a low power FM translator KCXU-LP broadcasting. If anything is going to put nails in FM radio, its going to be the LP-FM signal translators.

I'm still TO'ed about 104.1. (K281BL-FM) K-Love translator. Didn't need it, nor was it wanted in the area. They already have 97.7FM at 4KW covering the entire area fully. I used to DX a Sacramento station on 104.1, before this translator was powered up.

I barely ever listen to FM now, because of all the past turbulent selling and buying (and sudden format changes out of nowhere). Once we lost KSJO, I turned my FM-DXing hobby to AM. FM radio is dead to me. The only remaining stations in the area worth a darn are KUFX 98.5, 95.3KRTY, and 106.5KEZR

Shirley at the FCC gave me my first ticket exam at the M Street FCC shindig house in 1969. She was old even then.

I think of K-Love like a virus. Plotting their signals in any holes they can fill. Area I'm at has 3 frequencies with their format.

I wish KUFX adopt the KOME calls since it plays much of the music that former did, although they would probably have buy those from a station in Texas currently using them.

The call letters wouldnt make a hill o beans difference to the station since KUFX is known as KFOX anyways... only radio geeks on here would care about a call letter change

Seems Mr. Stoltz's lawyer no longer is his lawyer.

Dear Ms. Dortch:

Please be advised that this office is no longer representing Royce International Broadcasting Corporation (“Royce”) or Silver State Broadcasting, LLC (“Silver State”) in this proceeding.

Royce and Silver State are in the process of retaining new counsel for these proceedings.

If there are any questions, please contact this of

Royce International Broadcasting Corporation (“Royce”) and Silver State Broadcasting, Inc. (“Silver State”) respectfully request an extension of time....For these reasons, we ask that the Commission extend to September 23, 2021 the deadline for responding to the Status Report

Back in appeals court, there was yet another twist in the case. Right on the heels of filing the appeal with the Ninth Circuit, attorney Scott Sobel filed to withdraw from representing Stolz. That was quickly rejected by the court, however, since a corporation is not allowed to represent itself in the appeal.

What happened to 92.7 KREV? It seems it's been off the air for several days.

Here's the latest in the saga:

The sale to VCY has not closed. It's still held by the receiver. Perhaps VBY got tired of waiting.
