92.7 Rev

Post #158 links an article that describes the situation at 92.7:

Stolz, who has owned and engineered radio stations in California and Nevada for the past four decades, apparently has some work cut out for him. He alleges that during the time he was not in control of the stations they have been “vandalized” with equipment torn out and some assets moved from one FM to another. He claims the station’s facilities were “dismantled, neglected and abandoned” since VCY America was going to beam in its religious network from its Milwaukee headquarters.

Didn’t confirm it, but on my ride to work which puts me going down a mountain with views of the valley and Bay Area, I was picking up Christian preaching on 92.7. They’re still running VCY on KREV?

I still hear nothing near me.
Has to be the Relevant Radio translator out of Stockton then…

So, assuming Crazy Ed gets it up and running again, what will we see on 92.7? Some form of alternative, a rehash of Rev, or some form of talk?

I’m going with the latter of those options...even though it makes the least sense. I’m sure there’s still issues regarding Ed’s opinion on paying music royalties.

I doubt Ed will keep the station, so I see a placeholder format that doesn't require the payment of royalties just to keep the license active until he finds a buyer. I wouldn't be surprised if he simulcasts his Talk station in Las Vegas (KBET). If he's doing any kind of music, I think it will just basically an MP3 player on shuffle with pop music from the old music library.

However, who would want to buy from him considering his past history? Personally, I wouldn't sleep well at night if I had the money and will to purchase - always wondering if something is going to go wrong with the sale, but I don't think he has the cash to re-open the station for business.

Top 40/Dance Format PureFM being readied for launch on 92.7 "sometime this week":

Format is programmed by Rob Austin of Chicago-based Jamtraxx Media.
Expecting a call letter change and a domain-name change.

RadioInsight hinted at this on 5/2/2022 reporting that "Pure" domains have been registered for Stolz's 3 stations.

Interesting. Jamtraxx is 24/7 format syndicator that works with United Stations. So I guess he's handing off the programming to them while his case works through the courts. Jamtraxx doesn't own any stations, so they're not likely to buy the stations from Stolz. But this at least puts content on the stations and creates some revenue. Although probably not much.

Aha! Missed that he also runs Fusion LLC. Although they mostly appear to be translators:

But who knows...perhaps he could put together enough cash to buy the stations. Assuming Stolz will sell.

In any case, it's a quick and easy way to put something on the signals without investing in people or facilities

I also think the format is a pretty good idea for the SF area.

It's interesting that 92.7 has had a long history of carrying multiple Dance formats going back from Spanish Broadcasting System to Flying Bear and now this. Party, Energy and Pure.

Great idea, just don't sell it to EMF.

who has else the money and a viable.. and time and would want coverage bad enough to put up with any crap stolz may throw their way?

It's EMF.. or maybe an ethnic broadcaster.

Thats it

Not one else has the money

Nor do they wanna deal with Stolz
