Insanity in radio seems to be common among sole proprietorships.

In my experience, they don't start out that way, but fame can do funny things.

Anyone who hates corporate radio needs to spend time working for a single-station owner. They will run back to corporate.

Subterfuge and litigation are all part of dealing with Crazy Ed. Mr Austin would be well advised to get his money up front.

Yep, considering Ed doesn't have the cash to pay his P,G,&E bill ..well, allegedly he can't...hmmmm

The power bill for a low power FM is not going to be a huge amount. It is likely, though, that if it is unpaid there are lots of other due bills.

If -- and it's a big if -- Stolz can clear out enough of the past due bills to fire up KREV again, he doesn't need to make a deal with Austin, or anyone else, to program it. There are plenty of programming sources that are free to a station through barter (I happen to be one of them ... it's how I am able to focus a lot of my time on small- and unrated-market clients) but perhaps none of them want to do business with Ed either.

I now find myself wondering if 92.7 (or the rest of the Stolz "empire" in Las Vegas and Palm Springs) will return to the air before I die.

Vegas is on the air as a simulcast of KBET 790, or at least it was in April when I was out there for NAB.
