92.7 WKIF IS NOW NINE-FM.

Does anyone know when 92.7 WKIF in Kankakee changed to the NINE FM format and dropped CNN? Judging by the latest
ratings they should have put it back on the frequencies it was on before, at least on 99.9. They could not do any worse than
they are now.

There was a post about it on Larry's board a few weeks ago. I did not see any confirmation that it really happened before your post. Interesting move on newswebs part. It would cost more to pay the royalties right? Maybe they have someone planning on selling commercials in Kankakee.

Maybe this is a way to pressure the local broadcasters to buy the station. If it starts to impact the billing dollars the competitors might pay more for it.

I think I prefer 95.1 The Valley (which skews more toward Oldies) to this new rendition of Nine-FM, but still, it's nice to have another music choice.

I discovered Nine-FM on 92.7 the Friday before Christmas. I have no idea how long it was on prior. However, their former simulcast partner (AM850) was still promoting the 92.7 frequency as CNN Radio for the Kankakee area.

I think it started that Friday just before Christmas. The first day I heard music, the RDS PS still showed "WKIF-CNN". The day later RDS was turned off, and has been since.

I just found out about Nine FM on WKIF this past Friday while at work. I can get the WKIF signal down there, but not at home in Gary. I however don't get much of a chance to listen to WKIF, due to my hectic work schedule. So I've otherwise moved on. :(
