92.9 FM Healdsburg (Sonoma County)

Anyone know when 92.9 FM flipped away from KHTT and its "The Heat" monkier? I lived in that area in the early 90s and that was my favorite station.

Nope. CHR.

I found that they flipped to KVVV in 1993 and then to the current calls of KFGY in 10/1996.. So.. either 93 or 96.

They were "The Heat at 92.9".. They're night guy Trevor Carey was AWESOME. I used to listen to him on a regular basis when I lived in Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Met him once.. Nice guy.. Now I believe he lives in Colorado Springs but he's out of radio.

I remember that they were in a little studio in an office building somewhere in Santa Rosa. Everything was on cart. Trevor Carey was their night guy. He was pretty cool and a great jock. I think he's in Colorado Springs or Denver out of radio now. Something tells me that before they were "The Heat" they ran a rock format, but I cant be sure.

It signed on originally as KREO on December 21, 1979. They played classic rock and pop for the first couple years and then changed to a pop top 40 format. They changed to KHTT in 1989 and then became KVVV in 1993 with a classic rock format. They changed to KFGY in 1996. Originally the KREO studio was in downtown Healdsburg. They eventually moved the studio to santa rosa in later years.

Hello. I was a member of the original sign-on back in 1980. I worked in sales. Happy to field questions, should there be any, about that time.

Originally it was reel-to-reel automated CHR. Not long after it went with live PD and DJs, still a CHR format. I was there near 3 years and the format stayed the same during that time.

I stumbled on this almost 10 year old post today. The name Trevor Carey rang a bell because he is now on air in Fresno as another 'local' conservative talker. At the moment I don't recall if it's the Capstar/ClearChannel Conservative talker w/ Limpballs/Hannity, KALZ, 96.7; or is it conservative talker KXEX 1550 AM.
