It has launched and yet no posts. Interesting so far

Because it is the same shit you can find on 640.(sp), 680, 790, 93.7, 1340, 1230, etc, etc.......

one of my good amateur radio friends is a senior network analyst for AT&T Mobility, and I KID YOU NOT, there is a noticeable increase of streaming traffic on both their 3G and 4G wireless networks in the Atlanta area (or zones as he calls it) as we speak.

I hope this sports shit crashes and burns, it's more mind numbing dribble that is worse than drug addict pill popping talk show hosts.

anyway, back to Pandora. Sprint isn't having any trouble keeping up with demand.

Interesting. I am streaming right now also but that is because I am giving the new station a try, not because I am replacing Dave.

I am just wondering which team gets dropped whent he Two Live Stews non-compete is up becasue clearly this station is perfect for them. How much of this station actually takes away from V103? We are already talking Cam Newton and is the coverage of his recent crazies racially motivated? If Matt Ryan acts like that it will just as likely be covered but that just me keeping it real. Alright, Alright, Alright!!!!

Kordell Stewart has been complaining that "the blogs" have been saying 92-9 The Game will be "urban sports." I thought he probably was referring to this board but apparently not. And I don't think Rodney Ho wrote that. So I'm not sure what he was talking about. But he certainly seemed upset.

The comments to Rodney's blog maybe?

That may have been the wussiest launch promo I've heard. Piano music and reflective copy to kick off a sports station? Good grief.

92.9 doesn't have to be great, just fair and they will win. Does 680's Fm translator cover that much of the market they loose when going directional at night? With both 680 and 790 going directional for a lot of the "drive shifts"* if you are in a large part of the suburb's 92.9 is the only sports talk signal available going or coming to work and at night.

680 loses the northeast quadrant totally and a lot of the northwest quadrant at night. 790 pretty much loses the entire northside.

Winter AM and PM drive has never been kind to the ATL AM dial, except for You Know Who.

The 93.7 translator gets some coverage on the northside 24/7, but that translator isn't as good as 98.9/97.9.

If I remember correctly, during December and January, the daytime power/patterns for AM radio are only 7:45 AM - 5:30 PM (approx). The times depend on the city of license as the AM stations in the west metro get an extra 15 minutes in the evening. Anyway, 680 and 790 are effectively daytimers for people who commute outside I-285. 92.9 has the winter season to build an audience for their drivetime hours. I am sure management is well aware of this opportunity.

IIRC the FCC had sign on and sign off (and or cut power and directional) times posted with the AM license. They were in Standard time (daylight saving time required a little math). Usually a pre-sunrise "telegram" to allow a lot of day-timers to run 500 watts 6AM till sunrise. I think most of these were on the old regional channels pre 80 90)

I listened for 30 minutes yesterday on the drive home from 5:30 to 6pm and heard 15 minutes worth of commercials and some boring talk. I changed the station and removed 92.9 from my preset.

Correct on all of it. The original license used to be sent via Western Union and the times of operation were listed on the license. The rules say you can use the average time for each month on the license or the actual sunrise/sunset time for the area, whichever is earlier/later. Sometimes this could get you 10 or 15 minutes of extra broadcast time which is important during drive time.

I just happened to look up a couple of sunset times just over the state line in Alabama (central time) and Montgomery daytimers have to sign off at 4:45 pm during December and 5:00 PM in January.
