92.9 Trenton Area Dance Pirate?

hearing a strong illegal pirate on 92.9 playing dance in the trenton area, specifically east into hamilton. i believe these guys used to be on 95.3 and 94.9 for a period too. huge signal, blanket a long stretch of the turnpike and completely destroy WPAT and WOBM, and even WMMR within the area. anybody know more about this illegal pirate? surprised the fcc hasn't acted on it yet, i think they've been on over a year now.

Forget the Chicken S*&^ FCC acting on any pirate that is not Rock oriented....

I believe that station "has" a part 15 license. They re called Party 93 but states that they are from West Windsor.

There is no such thing as a "part 15 license." If it's getting out more than about 100 feet, it's illegal.

With all of the laws and stuff in NJ, I'm really surprised this state hasn't followed Florida in making illegal radio stations a felony (FL: five years in prison and a $5,000 fine). NJ would be rolling in cash!

Okay, so what do you call an LPFM license?

A LPFM license.

To get one, they would have had all kinds of engineering studies done to see if a low-power FM station would work in that area (it doesn't), they would probably need a FCC attorney to walk them through the application process, they would have filed who knows how many forms with the FCC, they would have to form a non-profit organization, and also compete with dozens and dozens of other organizations and religious outfits for the same channel. It takes years and years to go through the process.

totally false. if they were to be complying with the part 15 rules of the FCC, you wouldn't be able to hear 92.9 from beyond their neighborhood they transmit in. as it stands now, i can hear 92.9 from lawrenceville to the red lion circle on route 206, an almost 30 mile stretch. that's what i'd call ILLEGAL. hopefully, the FCC is on to this operation.

Well they won't have far to come since they are located in Langhorne. They only seem to take an interest in the "less than ethnic" neighborhoods if you catch my drift and somehow Trenton doesn't strike me as fitting that bill. So I would pretty much get used to it much like the folks in Paterson, Newark and other urbanized areas have too. Only way some REAL response would be achieved is if a Licensed station complains that their protected contour is being violated...

FCC = Another WASTE of Government $$$ ::)

"Party 93" at 92.9 in West Windsor was me "playing radio" many years ago. It was on the air with an iPod transmitter hooked up to rabbit ears from about 2005-2007, and the signal barely made it out of my neighborhood. The transmitter no longer works. The Trenton pirate isn't mine. I think it was off the air when I passed by the Trenton area on the Turnpike last night, or it might have been drowned out by the tropo. I heard it when it was on 94.9 and it had a house mix. Lawrenceville to Route 70 on 206 is over 30 miles! It must be running a lot of power from a tall building. There are many pirates in Newark that run even more power and can be heard up to 60 miles away, and those actually interfere with licensed stations in their protected contour. I wonder if this pirate sells advertising. For once, a pirate station that doesn't have a Caribbean format. It'll stay on for years.
I remember a few years ago, there used to be a pirate at 107.7 that simulcasted WSTW.

Actually New Jersey has followed Florida in making it illegal to operate a non-licensed station.( If a part 15 is Done Correctly then its Legal to be unlicensed) Its a Felony Plus a fine so Dont get caught.

Newark PD actually used it to shut down an AM Pirate in Newark just last year. The guy had a Rangemaster Part 15 tranmitter up 45 feet on an extension ladder.. It exceeded the 3 meter antenna rules.Hence illegal. His signal covered about 2 miles.
If He installed it as Per the specs. It would have been considered Legal and he would have Gotten away with it.

One word for that guy S T U P I D..........

If it's a "felony" to run a pirate station, why is the FM band infested with pirates that don't go away for years in Newark and why do new pirates pop up such as this one and 107.9 in Elizabeth?

Look at Streetz 96, their transmitter is on top of a high rise apartment building in East Orange, and they've been on the air for nearly 4 years. What about Roadblock Radio, they had a transmitter on top of a power pole in the backyard of an abandoned house and how many letters was sent to these people and nothing is done about it. Hell, look at the pirate on 87.9, I heard them all the way in Parsippany, and kills Pulse 87 from the Jersey Gardens Mall to the Pulaski Skyway. But just a little AM pirate that goes as far as 2 miles and gets busted but stations like these go as far as 20 miles and nothing.
